Hunger Issue in Yemen Used for Collecting Money for International Organizations

Yemen: International humanitarian organizations continue to invest the war on Yemen, to collect into their bank accounts millions of dollars annually.

Dozens of international organizations that are funded by donor countries and work in Yemen under various names and purposes within the framework of lack of food and medicine, outbreaks of diseases and epidemics and other fields.

The spread of hunger and malnutrition are the most common slogans that are raised by the organizations before the international community, to ensure the flow of funds to them. They did not forget to tamper with terms about the causes of the war on Yemen calling it a "forgotten conflict" or "internal fighting" without mentioning the coalition to ensure the sustainability of feeding its accounts in international banks.

During the Security Council consultations on February 11th, The Executive Director of the World Food Program, “David Beasley”, regarding the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, said: We are on a countdown right now to a catastrophe in Yemen. The people have been ravaged by years of conflict-fuelled hunger and malnutrition. Now, there’s a toxic combination taking place of surging violence, a deepening of the economic and currency collapse, and COVID-19 is ratcheting up the misery to a whole new level. He asked for more financial support at the end of his report.

The High Representative for Foreign Affairs of the European Union, Josep Borrell, said last Monday, on his Twitter account: For far too long, we did not talk enough about the severe crisis in Yemen. We have to address this forgotten conflict and talk about Yemen, describing the war imposed on Yemenis by the forgotten conflict, he shared a video showing that about 1.7 million children suffer from acute malnutrition, in addition to the Corona pandemic, which increased the suffering of Yemenis, referring to a European campaign entitled "We need to talk about Yemen."

The official spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health and Population in the Salvation Government, Dr. “Yousef Al-Hadhri”, said in a press statement that there are more than 27 of 1000 newborns die annually in Yemen.

He pointed out that one of the biggest UN scandals is the allegations of providing the medical bridge, which has been talked about in media and used by the international organizations to polish the image of the coalition on Yemen.

He stressed that the United Nations should move to lift the blockade only, and there is no need for the spoiled food and expired medicine provided by the organizations to Yemen.

Observers believe that the organizations operating in Yemen speak more than they do, and that they rely on the media to promote their reports and statements to reap money in the name of combating hunger and helping Yemenis, while most of the financial benefits accrue to these organizations.

They also stressed that talking about Yemen's hunger, as part of a European campaign, would expand the appetite of international organizations, to request more funds to feed their accounts.
