News - Yemen: Finance Minister, Rasheed Abu Lahoum, announced that the Central Bank has measures adopted to confront any attempts to manipulate the exchange rate and the stability of the local currency. During a telephone call with Almasirah channel, the minister said that "The US-Saudi aggression's printing a version of 1,000 Riyals similar to an existing one, printed in 2017. The aggression aims at destroying the economy and the national currency.”

He pointed out that the exchange rate in the occupied areas exceeded 1,000 riyals per dollar, compared to only about 600 riyals in Sana’a and the liberated areas.

The Minister of Finance explained that there is work to be done to improve mechanisms related to electronic cash, pointing out that dealing with electronic riyals has become the default in many official institutions.

He also stressed that expanding the scope of using the electronic riyal also requires general contribution and awareness, noting that it will have a greater role in neutralizing the local currency from the US-Saudi targeting.
