News - Yemen: Minister of Industry and Trade Abdul-Wahhab Al-Durra confirmed that Yemen economically was previously dependent on fuel and its revenues, and was not concerned with providing domestic food and medicine, but rather the shop was full of imported goods.

Minister Al-Durra told Almasirah, Friday, that the National Salvation Government is seeking to support the food and pharmaceutical industries to achieve as much self-sufficiency as possible.

He pointed out that the US-Saudi aggression and siege made Yemen search for strategic economic solutions in the long term, pointing out that the forces of aggression focused on targeting fuel by seizing fuel tankers.

The Minister of Industry and Trade stressed that there is a tendency towards achieving self-sufficiency, encouraging small projects that create job opportunities.

He expressed his optimism and said, "there is a popular interaction in encouraging the local product and the leadership confirms the interest in the national product to be preferred over the foreign one."

Regarding spinning and weaving factories, Minister Al-Durra explained that there was almost a complete cessation in the cultivation of cotton, and once the factory was rehabilitated, we found a response from the farmers, which provided a complete year's need for cotton.

He added, "We are trying to do everything possible to alleviate the economic pressures that the citizens are exposed to as a result of the continued aggression and siege."
