Forces of US-Saudi Aggression Do Not Abide by Stockholm Agreement, Continue Violations in Hodeidah

News – Yemen: The Head of the National Team in the Redeployment Coordination Committee in Hodeidah governorate Major General. Ali Al-Mushki discussed with the Chairman of the Redeployment Coordination Committee Lt. Gen. Abhijit Guha and the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) a number of issues related to the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement.

They discussed the needs of Hodeidah ports and finding ways to provide the necessary support to the executive center for dealing with mines.

In the meeting, Al-Mushki stressed the importance of the United Nations to play its role in declaring the blocking party to the Stockholm Agreement, and clarifying the facts to the international community about the coalition's prevention of the introduction of mine-detection devices. This is in light of the inability of the demining teams to carry out their duties as a result of the obsolescence and malfunction of the devices and the lack of capabilities.

˝There are thousands of internationally prohibited missiles and cluster bombs dropped by the US-Saudi aggression in various regions throughout Yemen. These are threatening the population, thousands of children and women in farms, roads and grazing places", Al-Mushki said.

With regard to the redeployment process, Al-Mushki stressed that the National Party is keen to spare bloodshed and implemented what is related to the first phase of the redeployment from the ports of Hodeidah, while the other party refuses to implement its obligations in light of the silence of the United Nations and its mission in Hodeidah.

He called on the United Nations to declare a position in the face of the mobilization by the aggression party in Hodeidah, who is bringing takfiri and Daesh groups to the western coast. He pointed to the reflection of this mobilization on the security of the international shipping lane.

For his Part, Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Qadri, member of the National Team, explained that the port of Hodeidah is almost halted as a result of the damage it sustained due to the air raids of the coalition of aggression and the slowdown in repairing the damaged cranes. In addition the United Nations disavows the transfer of the UN inspection team “UNFIM” from Djibouti to Hodeidah in accordance with the Stockholm Agreement, he added.

Al-Qadri pointed out that the people of Hodeidah die every day due to violations committed by the aggression side, which result in casualties, or the lack of fuel and its impact on all aspects of life and high temperatures, all of which cause daily casualties.

"The United Nations is concerned with lifting the siege on the city of Hodeidah and forcing the other party to implement the agreement and redeploy, in implementation of the first phase that the National Party had implemented with the first days of the agreement two years ago", he added.

He indicated that the continued procrastination of the aggression party in implementing its obligations and the continuation of the aggression’s aircraft targeting the points where the Army and Popular Committees redeployed is a serious violation that threatens the agreement.

The Director of the Executive Center for Demining explained the need for teams working to mark minefields for modern equipment to carry out their duties and protect themselves, in light of the failure of nearly 50 per cent of the old mines and cluster bombs detection and removal devices.  He stressed that the process of repairing old equipment is useless as it has outdated its useful life and outdated technology. The current situation in Yemen, as a result of the large spread of unexploded munitions and cluster bombs dropped by the aggression aircraft over a period of six years, requires the introduction of modern and advanced devices, he added.

In the meeting, the head of the UN mission stressed the urgent need to complete the redeployment, praising the commitment of the National Party to the requirements of the Stockholm Agreement from the first phase of redeployment. He pointed out that the United Nations wishes the other party to return to the agreement and work with the mechanisms that were previously implemented.

He praised the credibility and accuracy shown by the National Party in the information regarding monitoring violations of the Stockholm Agreement. He expressed his regret for the continued detention of fuel ships by the coalition of aggression and its impact on the course of life in Hodeidah and various regions.

He pointed out that the program is currently carrying out the largest funding operation in support of efforts to clear mines and remnants of war in Yemen. He pointed to the difficulties that stand without providing modern devices to detect and remove mines and newly manufactured cluster bombs.
