News - Yemen: Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed on Sunday that the time for Saudi Arabia's intervention in Yemeni affairs, Saudi requirements and its attempt to guardianship of Yemen is over.

According to Saba News Agency, Eng. Hisham Sharaf explained that the peace that Sana'a is working to achieve is a real, just and sustainable peace for Yemen and its people, within a Yemeni sovereign framework that culminates in the exit of foreign forces from Yemeni lands and that preserves Yemen's independence and sovereignty over its entire territory.

Sharaf’s remarks came in response to Saudi Foreign Minister statement, who stipulated the new UN envoy implement what he called the Saudi Peace Initiative in Yemen and the three references as a basis for achieving peace in Yemen.

“The Saudi Foreign Minister should not rush to try to show a position of strength, with the start of the mission of the new UN envoy imminent,” Minister Sharaf said. “He must be aware that peace in Yemen is for the Yemeni people and return to a security and stability. The authority of the national state is the one that imposes order and law, achieves justice and prosperity for the Yemeni people, and ends their suffering after seven years of being subjected to aggression.”

The foreign minister continued: “It is not a peace imposed or stipulated by Saudi Arabia for the benefit of those in its orbit, in the hope of continuing to play the role of guardianship and hegemony.”

He stressed the need for the Saudi leadership to realize that the future bilateral relations between the Republic of Yemen and Saudi Arabia can be reconstructed on the basis of good neighborliness, mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs.

“This will lead to good neighborly relations and joint cooperation that will benefit the two brotherly countries and achieve security and stability at the regional and international levels,” he added.
