The Minister of Health, Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakel, explained that 8,000 women die annually due to complications of pregnancy and childbirth and as a result of the effects of the blockade, and that between 80,000 and 100,000 newborns die annually in Yemen under siege.

"We are observing a rise in deformities and birth defects among children as a result of the intensive bombing by the US-Saudi aggression on Yemen, including the use of internationally prohibited weapons" The Minister of Health said.

"About 2,000 women were killed during the US-Saudi aggression and there are 6,000 women among the injured, stressing that the number of deaths among Yemeni women and children as a result of the effects of the siege is many times those killed by fire" He added.

He stressed that between the crime of Bani Hawat, the first crimes of the US-Saudi aggression and the crime of woman of Hays, there are thousands of crimes committed by the coalition of aggression in Yemen.

The representative of the United Nations Population Fund, Restor Ohani, said that Yemen is one of 60 countries in which half of mothers die during childbirth.
