Saudi Regime Foil 80 Exchanging Agreements of Prisoners in 2021
News- Yemen: Saudi Arabia has foiled many exchanging agreements of prisoners this year as it has complete control over the prisoners' issue, and its mercenaries have no decision except with the approval of the Saudi officers, the National Committee for Prisoners' Affairs said.
The head of the Committee, Abdul Qadir Al-Mortada, added that it was hoped that the year 2021 would witness the greatest achievement in the prisoners' issues, confirming that the national side provided all concessions but were faced by US-Saudi obstruction.
Al-Murtada added: “The goal of Saudi Arabia’s intransigence is that it wants to have a deal that includes all its officers and soldiers without releasing our prisoners, however, we confirmed that we are ready to release all for all without selectivity.”
Al-Murtada pointed out that the year 2021 witnessed the liberation of 400 prisoners from the Army and the Popular Committees in 60 local exchange operations, compared to 80 operations that were foiled by Saudi directives, despite the agreement with those concerned before Saudi's intervention to foil these operations.
Regarding the Sudanese prisoners, Al-Murtada indicated that there is no party negotiating for the Sudanese prisoners. He said: We have asked the United Nations to organize a Sudanese party concerned with the Sudanese prisoners.
He stressed that in the year 2020, there was a good role for the United Nations, and as a result the largest exchange process took place, but in the year 2021 the United Nations' role weakened significantly, and “we did not see any achievement by the United Nations in all issues of the war and we hope that it will take care of the prisoners issue".
Al-Murtada indicated that there are several meetings with the United Nations during the year 2021 to discuss many issues related to prisoners, and we hope that there will be a breakthrough in this issue.
