Foreign Ministry Condemns US-Saudi Ongoing Policy of Collective Punishment Against Yemenis

News - Yemen: Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned in the strongest terms the continuation of the siege and the policy of collective punishment against the Yemeni people by the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression and its mercenaries, the latest of which was the cutting off of gas locomotives in the occupied areas, preventing their entry to the free governorates and raising its price.

In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry indicated that the blockade and the policy of collective punishment are a flagrant violation of the rights of the Yemeni people, including the right to a decent life.

It stressed that these actions come as part of the brutal economic war waged against Yemen since March 26, 2015, which aims to bring the Yemeni people to their knees and keep them in continuous suffering.

The statement pointed out that these cowardly practices occur in parallel with the continuing crime of organized looting of Yemen's oil and gas resources and selling them abroad, while they continue to besiege and starve the Yemeni people and deprive them of obtaining their daily needs except with great difficulty and high cost as a result of these criminal practices.

The ministry concluded its statement by emphasizing that such measures and crimes undermine peace efforts and give the Yemeni people their full right to join the frontlines, self-defense, and break the unjust siege by all available means that the leadership sees fit.

Saudi Arabia and the UAE, backed by the United States and regional allies, launched the war on Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power.

The war has left hundreds of thousands of Yemenis dead and displaced millions more. It has also destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases there. As part of its economic war, the US-Saudi aggression worked to drain about 97% of the Yemeni state’s resources, either by controlling them militarily such as oil and gas sources, freezing Yemeni foreign assets and transferring them to mercenaries and financing coalition operations, or imposing siege on the vital port of Hodeidah and the most important port after Aden, which is still in the grip of Sana’a and out of control of the aggression.

The coalition of aggression continues to piracy, detaining fuel ships, and preventing them from entering the port of Hodeidah, despite obtaining permits from UN, which aggravates the humanitarian catastrophe due to the suspension of many vital service sectors, especially hospitals, electricity, water, cargo trucks, as well as waste trucks.
