Will Saudi Regime Use Truce to Exit Yemen After Eight Years Aggression?

Yemen: For a period of two months, a humanitarian truce began Saturday between Yemen and the countries of US-Saudi aggression, under the auspices of the United Nations, under which all military operations would stop and Sana’a International Airport would be opened for a number of flights, as well as the port of Hodeidah to be opened to fuel tankers, with the possibility of expanding the period.

The announcement of the truce came in a statement by the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, and some of the details of the truce stated: “Stopping all offensive land, air and sea operations inside and outside Yemen, and freezing the current military positions on the ground. The entry of 18 fuel tankers during the two months of the truce to the ports of Hodeidah. And the operation of two commercial flights per week to Sana’a and from there during the two months to Jordan and Egypt.”

It is clear that the truce does not meet the minimum requirements of the Yemeni people, of which the complete lifting of the siege imposed on them comes at the top of these demands along with the demand to stop the aggression. However, the acceptance of the truce by the national government in Sana’a came to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and pave the way for a comprehensive lifting of the siege and a final solution, after it became clear that the US-Saudi aggression tightened the siege to stifle the Yemeni people after its military and political failure, using the economic war and starvation.

The US-Saudi aggression would not have accepted the two-months truce without the Siege-Breaking operations carried out by the Yemeni Armed Forces and the Popular Committees that targeted the Saudi depth. It finally realized that the persistence in its aggression and siege against Yemen will cost it dearly.

The member of the National Delegation, Abdulmalik Al-Ejri, revealed that allowing the entry of fuel tankers in this truce by the US-Saudi aggression is evidence that it was behind the economic suffering of the Yemeni people. He added that the US-Saudi aggression prevented the fuel tankers arbitrarily, using this for political pressure.

It became clear that the US-Saudi aggression did not agree to the humanitarian truce, with humanitarian motives. The operations of Siege-breaking, and the Yemeni forces moving from defense to attack, and the leaders of Ansarullah’s announcement about major military achievements that will surprise the aggressors in the future are the reasons for the truce. The Saudi regime may also use this truce as a ladder to descend from the tree of arrogance after eight years of aggression.
