Shura Council Condemns Continued Truce Violations by US-Saudi Aggression

News - Yemen: The Shura Council, headed by the Speaker of Council, Mohammed Hussein Al-Aidarous, condemned the continued violations of the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression coalition.

The Council denounced the US-Saudi aggression's deliberate launch of its spy drones in the densely populated airspace in Sana'a, whose downing led to civilian casualties and property damage.

It praised the advanced capabilities of the air defenses, which were able to deal with the Saudi drone, stressing the importance of raising vigilance against any future plans by the US-Saudi aggression aimed at thwarting the UN truce.

The Shura Council holds the UN and the international community legally responsible for their shameful silence towards the crimes of aggression. The council discussed the catastrophic effects on the oil sector as a result of the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression.

The Speaker of the Shura Council indicated that the economic sector in Yemen was subjected to the fiercest attack by the US-Saudi aggression, at the forefront is the oil sector, which was greatly affected by the systematic targeting.

He explained that the oil and economic sector lost billions of dollars as a result of the US-Saudi aggression, according to many statistics, due to the detention of fuel ships and the looting of nation's oil wealth.

Al-Aidarous holds the UN and international community to be fully responsible for the catastrophic effects on the Yemeni people as a result of the coalition’s destruction of the Yemeni economy.

He stressed the importance of working on exploiting the various mineral resources that Yemen abounds in in a number of regions, calling on the national capital to invest in this aspect because of its importance in supporting the national economy.

The Speaker of the Shura Council commended the efforts of the Council's Economic Committee in preparing the report and the difficulties and challenges it included in the Yemeni Petroleum Company (YPC).

The report stated that the US-Saudi aggression worked to replace the national institutions and bodies responsible for the economic management of oil and gas resources with institutions that operate according to its purposes.

It pointed out that the US-Saudi aggression imposed an economic blockade by land, sea and air, and prevented the entry of basic materials for agriculture and industry, food commodities and medicines, which led to an increase in their prices in light of the low income of citizens.

Recently, the UN special envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg announced the ceasefire, saying the two-month truce would come into effect on Saturday and could be renewed with consent of the parties, Reuters reported.

The deal stipulates halting offensive military operations, including cross-border attacks, and allowing fuel-laden ships to enter Yemen’s lifeline al-Hudaydah port and commercial flights in and out of the airport in the capital Sana’a "to predetermined destinations in the region."

On a daily basis, the Saudi-led aggression violates the UN-backed agreements, reached between the warring sides during rounds of UN-sponsored peace negotiations.

The continuous violations by the forces of aggression in Hodeidah come in light of an international silence identifying the aggression and its crimes against the Yemeni people.

Saudi Arabia, backed by the United States and regional allies, launched the war on Yemen in March 2015, claiming the goal of bringing the government of former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power.

The US-Saudi aggression continues to target neighborhoods and populated areas and destroy the infrastructure and capabilities of the country, in light of a suspicious international silence.

The war has left hundreds of thousands of Yemenis dead and displaced millions more. It has also destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure and spread famine and infectious diseases there.
