Defense Minister: Intentions of US-Saudi Aggression Revealed Through its Obstructing of Peace

News - Yemen: Yemeni Defense Minister, Major General Mohammed Al-Atifi, said, Tuesday, that the intentions of the US-Saudi aggression on the military and humanitarian levels revealed by fighting all peace steps and initiatives calling for an end to the aggressive war against Yemen.

According to Saba news agency, the Minister of Defense indicated that Yemeni Armed Forces are committed to honoring UN sponsored truce, with patience and steadfastness as instructed by Sayyed Abdulmalik.

He said: "We had hoped that the UN- sponsored truce would be the beginning to end the aggression and siege and establish steps based on trust and sense of responsibility. Through the reality on the ground, we found that the aggressor invaders did not abide by the terms of the truce, and this indicates that we are facing an enemy who does not believe in peace.”

Major General Al-Atifi explained that the leadership of the Ministry of Defense and the Presidency of the General Staff, have prepared the required equipment for qualitative military structure and developed integrated military, industrial and tactical means and methods.

He said, "We are fully prepared to face any emergency caused by US-Saudi Forces, we are ready for all military options and are able to obtain our rights with peace or war."

The Minister of Defense praised the steadfastness of the heroes of the Army and Popular Committees who faces the aggression, as a victory for Yemeni People and their legitimate right to build their present and future generations in a free, independent, strong and united Yemen.

In early April, the UN special envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, announced the nationwide ceasefire, for the first time since 2016, saying the two-month truce would be eligible for renewal with the consent of parties. The truce meant to halt all military operations in the country and to bring the foreign military invasion to an end.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the truce "must be a first step to ending Yemen’s devastating war," urging the warring parties to build on the opportunity to "resume an inclusive and comprehensive Yemeni political process."

The deal stipulates halting offensive military operations, including cross-border attacks, and allowing fuel-laden ships to enter Yemen’s lifeline al-Hudaydah port and commercial flights in and out of the airport in the capital Sana’a "to predetermined destinations in the region."

The Saudi-led aggression continues to violate the truce by detaining new fuel ships, despite their inspection and obtaining permits from the United Nations, insisting on the closure of Sana’a Airport, as well as, the fires of the aggression side did not subside along the fronts, on the borders and inside, including shelling, reconnaissance, development and crawl.
