News – Yemen: The President of Supreme Political Council, Mahdi Al-Mashat, received a letter from the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg which includes a request to extend the truce for an additional two months, stressing finding urgent humanitarian treatments and addressing the delay that occurred in implementing the terms of the truce during the past two months.

The letter also includes the same terms for the next two months, with the importance of investing the new extension period to reach a clear and comprehensive agreement that deals with the humanitarian situation, foremost of which is basic services and the payment of salaries to all state employees.

Al-Mashat had received a number of letter and contacts from the leadership of many friendly and brotherly countries that requested another opportunity for the United Nations and the countries of aggression to compensate for the provisions of the armistice that were not adhered to during the past two months, especially with regard to the humanitarian issue and other related issues.

President Al-Mashat welcomed the efforts made and the contacts that were made, which emphasized the interest in Yemen's overcoming of the aggression and the siege imposed on it.

He stressed that the Supreme Political Council's acceptance and positive response to the calls and calls that were made and with the letter of the UN envoy to extend the armistice is in order to alleviate the suffering of the citizens and allow more time to open roads,continue flights, not impeding the arrival of ships, complying with the terms of the armistice effectively and not creating obstacles, stop its military violations.  

President Al-Mashat stressed that all this will remain under close monitoring during the coming period.
