Political Council Renews Condemnation of Saudi-backed Party's Reluctance to Open Roads in Taiz

News - Yemen:  The Supreme Political Council affirmed in its meeting, Wednesday, headed by President Mahdi Al-Mashat, that the failure of the US-Saudi aggression to implement all the provisions of the truce is a negative indication that does not encourage the continuation of the discussion of any renewal of the truce.

The Council pointed out that the correct basis for any future peace process is to stop the aggression and lift the siege on Yemen, starting with the complete and immediate opening of Sana'a International Airport, the port of Hodeidah, and the payment of employee salaries from oil and gas revenues, stressing that the implementation of these steps is one of the main important and fundamental issues to alleviate the suffering citizens as a result of aggression and siege.

The meeting focused on the results of the talks being held by the Military Committee in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on opening roads, foremost of which are a number of roads leading to the city of Taiz. The Political Council renewed its condemnation of the Saudi-backed party's reluctance to open roads in Taiz, mentioning that Saudi-backed party raises issues that can only be moved to after gradual opening and securing number of roads.

The Council pointed out that the opening of the Al-Hawban road requires the evacuation of the city of Taiz from the armed militias, which the mercenaries avoid. Economically, the Council welcomed any practical and realistic proposals from any company or entity capable of contributing to alleviating the suffering of citizens and breaking the monopoly of the countries of aggression to sell oil and provide oil derivatives to citizens at lower prices than the existing ones.

The Political Council pointed out that the US-Saudi aggression's siege contributed to increasing the burdens and the many costs added to the transportation of derivatives as a result of the detention and obstruction of ships and the raising of insurance amounts as a result of the blockade imposed on Yemen.

The Council called for the release of the prisoners so that families can be reunited in these days, considering any obstruction in this humanitarian issue a condemned crime.

In early June, the National Salvation Government announced the implementation of a unilateral initiative, to raise the earthen barriers in preparation for the opening of a road inside the city of Taiz.

Negotiations of opening roads in Jordan are without outcomes after a 2-day discussion. The National Committee says that the talks do not go beyond limited roads in Taiz.

The Saudi-backed party does not have a decision to talk about the rest of the roads and closed outlets, which is a short conception of comprehensive solutions that include closed outlets in more than one governorate, including Al-Dhalae and Marib.

President Mahdi Al-Mashat affirmed that if the military negotiating committee in Jordan does not see new signs regarding closed roads to alleviate suffering of Yemeni people, the committee will announce a unilateral initiative.

He added that the US-Saudi aggression is sparing no effort to exploit the suffering of the citizens in Taiz governorate, explaining that there is a varying agenda of the Saudi-backed government that uses the suffering and difficult conditions in Taiz and the various governorates.

The Chairman of National Military CommitteeYahya Abdullah Al-Razami has handed President Al-Mashat a detailed report on the proposals submitted by the United Nations to open roads in Taiz and the others of governorates.

Razami indicated the readiness of the National side to implement the initiative that was unilaterally presented, with the aim of progressing in the negotiations.

He called on the representatives of the United Nations to go with the Committee to Taiz Governorate and examine the reality to prove the seriousness of the National side to know the party obstructing the opening of humanitarian outlets.

He reiterated the National side's keenness to alleviate the suffering of the people of Taiz and all the people of the country, and affirm that the ball is in the court of the Saudi-backed side.

Razami considered that the Saudi-backed side must realize the humanitarian responsibility towards the Yemeni people, who are still suffering from an unjust and brutal siege and aggression.

He has confirmed that the Saudi-backed government is trying to make the issue of roads a subject for political and propaganda exploitation and rejects practical initiatives that would contribute to alleviating the suffering of citizens in Taiz and the others governorates.
