News - Yemen: The capital, Sanaa and other governorates witnessed large mass rallies Tuesday, in commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Zaid bin Ali (a.s).

The participants in the march raised slogans of freedom, Yemeni and Palestinian flags, banners expressing the importance of commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Zaid, as well as banners condemning America's crimes against Yemen and the nation and the looting of its wealth, and calling for a boycott of American and Israeli goods.

The participants chanted slogans expressing the greatness of the Imam Zaid revolution, and the importance of drawing lessons from it, emphasizing the continuation of his approach in fighting tyrants and arrogance in this era, and confronting the US-Saudi aggression against Yemen.

Affirming adherence to the Palestinian cause, the participants said: “We reject acts of treason and all forms of normalization and relations with "Israel" in any form by the employment and treason regimes, and we assure that the Zionists will only see us where they hate.”

The statement addressed the United Nations by saying: We say to the United Nations that Yemeni people will not stand idly by when their enemies plunder their wealth and refuse to pay the salaries from their wealth, and our airstrikes will make them regret it.

Imam Zaid was killed in Muharram 25, in 740 AD after fighting courageously for justice against the much larger army of the Umayyad Caliphate. The event gave rise to the Zaidiyyah sect of Shia Islam, which holds him as the next Imam after his father Ali ibn al-Husayn Zayn al-Abidin. 

Muharram is one of the most sacred months in the Islamic calendar because of the sacrifices that were made by the family of Prophet Muhammad to establish the message of humanity. The first ten days of the month hold the most significance during which the battle of Imam Hussain took place. 

These two battles renews in Muslims grief and reminds them of the great affliction, ignites in their hearts enthusiasm to start in the line of Hussein, Zaid (AS) and to join their faith in rejecting oppression and tyrants.
