Sayyed Abdulmalik to Speak on Commemoration of Martyrdom of Imam Zaid Today
News - Yemen: The Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, delivers a speech on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Zaid bin Ali, "peace be upon them," on Tuesday afternoon.

Imam Zaid was killed in Muharram 25, in 740 AD after fighting courageously for justice against the much larger army of the Umayyad Caliphate. The event gave rise to the Zaidiyyah sect of Shia Islam, which holds him as the next Imam after his father Ali ibn al-Husayn Zayn al-Abidin.
Muharram is one of the most sacred months in the Islamic calendar because of the sacrifices that were made by the family of Prophet Muhammad to establish the message of humanity. The first ten days of the month hold the most significance during which the battle of Imam Hussain took place.
These two battles renews in Muslims grief and reminds them of the great affliction, ignites in their hearts enthusiasm to start in the line of Hussein, Zaid (AS) and to join their faith in rejecting oppression and tyrants.
