US, Its Spy Network Had ‘Intricate Plot’ for Recent Iran Riots but Failed

News - World: Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf says the US and its network of spies had devised a “complex and special plan” for recent riots in the country but failed again.

Addressing an open session of the parliament on Wednesday, Qalibaf asserted that the US, its spying agencies and agents have been behind recent riots that erupted following the death of Mahsa Amini.

“America and their spying network and sabotage agents had devised a complex and special plan in recent incidents, but like in the past, they again made a mistake in the face of the alert Iranian nation,” he said.

All people, including those who criticize and protest, love every inch of this soil, he remarked, adding that people “will not be blackmailed by boycotters, warmongers, and terrorists.”

He also noted that the Iranian authorities and the parliament are “duty-bound” to prepare the ground for hearing the demands of people and act upon them appropriately in order to “dash the enemy’s hope” for using people's demands as opportunities.

The remarks came days after Iran’s Intelligence Ministry and the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) issued a joint statement on Friday, pointing to the major role of foreign spy agencies, especially the CIA, in orchestrating the violent riots in Iran in the past weeks.

Riots erupted after 22-year-old Amini collapsed at a police station and died in hospital despite intensive medical care.

An official report by Iran’s Legal Medicine Organization said that Amini’s death was caused by underlying health issues rather than alleged blows to the head or other vital body organs as reported in the Western media.

Many Western countries expressed their open support for rioters in acts that Tehran described as "inciting" violence and hatred.

‘Era of coups in Iran over’

Qalibaf also made remarks in connection with the National Day of Fight against Global Arrogance, also known as the National Student Day, which marks the anniversary of the takeover of the American embassy in Tehran in 1979. This year, the day falls on Friday.

As a manifestation of global arrogance, America has acted several times “against the will of nations” in the past few decades through staging coup d'états, initiating civil war, arming extremist terrorist groups, occupation, and staging ordered revolutions, he said.

“On November 4, 1979, the Iranian nation proved to the world through taking over the American embassy that the era of coups has come to an end in this country,” said the top lawmaker.

By imposing sanctions on Iran, supporting former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in its imposed war against Iran, establishing spying, sabotage, and terror networks, backing terrorist groups with the aim of undermining the country’s security, uniting media to disseminate fake news, and supporting riots and insecurity in Iran, the United States has tried to warn people of other countries that “if you set foot on the path of independence, you should await war, sanction, and threat,” Qalibaf said.
