Over 17, Including Civilians, Killed, Injured in Violent Confrontations in Marib

News - Yemen: Five people were killed and more than 12 others, including civilians, were injured in violent confrontations between the tribes and Saudi-backed Islah militia in Wadi Ubaidah in Ma'rib.

A source in the governorate said that the ongoing confrontations since yesterday evening have caused a complete power outage in the city of Ma'rib, stopping traffic on the international line, and displacing dozens of families from their homes.

He pointed out that the Islah militia launched intensive artillery shelling on citizens' homes and farms in the Damashqa area and tried to storm the area, but the citizens' steadfastness and resistance forced the militias to retreat.

The source confirmed that the clashes erupted because of the creation of a training military camp by the leader of the mercenaries called Saeed bin Maili, in the Damashqa area, one of the branches of the Ubaidah tribe.

The source denounced the barbaric behavior and retaliatory practices of the Saudi-backed Islah party militia against the people of Ma’rib tribes, and the raids it carried out against the free tribes and rejecting their racist and criminal practices, calling on the Ma’rib tribes to unite and stand in the face of terrorist militias.

Areas under the Saudi-UAE control are witnessing security chaos, and almost daily crimes. They witness increasing of assassinations involving military security leaders, religious and social tendencies, kidnapping, bombings and clashes between militants fighting for influence among them.

The United Nations has confirmed that the security chaos in the southern governorates has become a source of concern for humanitarian workers. Deputy Director of Operations, Ghada Mudawi, assured the Security Council that the lack of security is a source of concern for workers, who are increasingly trying to steal cars, kidnappings and other attacks.
