News - Yemen: The Presidency of Shura Council condemned the US-Saudi mercenaries’ bombing of citizens’ homes in Marib Governorate.

In its meeting on Saturday, headed by the Speaker of Council Mohammed Hussein Al-Aidarous, the Council  denounced the suspicious moves of the US ambassador Stephen Fagin in Hadhramaut governorate and his aggressive activities targeting Yemen in general.

The Shura Council considered the US ambassador's visit to Hadhramaut a blatant violation of Yemeni sovereignty, which falls within the US administration's plans that target the security, stability and unity of Yemen.

Hadhramaut is the largest governorate in Yemen, rich in oil resources, and extends on a long coastal strip overlooking the Arabian Sea. It has a strategic location, and natural resources, which are all America's colonial policy is looking for around the world. 

The American interest in the coastal governorate is confirmed by repeated American visits to it, in addition to the suspicious military presence on its soil. 

The non-resident US ambassador to Yemen Stephen Fagin headed a US delegation on a second visit to Hadhramaut in less than a week. The delegation carried a military and security character par excellence, as it included the chief representatives of the US Ministry of Defence, the US military attache to Yemen, in addition to other US officials.

At a time when the US Secretary of State affirms his country's support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Yemen, and the extension of the humanitarian and military truce, the US activity shows the opposite. It supports the fact that Washington wants the situation in Yemen to remain as it is, neither peace nor war. 

Beyond the political messages of the visit, the presence of the US ambassador to Hadhramaut carries economic dimensions. Washington is trying to reassure the oil companies and send messages of calm. But it is undoubtedly aware that its messages are insufficient, after Sana'a has proven the formula for preventing the looting of Yemeni oil, not just in words.
