Bloody Confrontations between UAE-Saudi Mercenaries in Center of Occupied Taiz

News - Yemen: Armed confrontations renewed Thursday between the Saudi-backed Islah factions and UAE-backed militias, in the center of Taiz governorate, southern Yemen.

Sources confirmed that the clashes broke out between members belonging to the governor of the UAE-backed and the leader of the Congress Party, Nabil Shamsan, and the gunmen of the leader of the Islah Party, Ghazwan al-Mikhlafi, in the city center.

The sources pointed out that the clashes resulted in the injury of four gunmen, indicating that the confrontations are continuing between the two parties, amid a state of fear and terror among the residents of the city.

This came, after clashes broke out between the two parties during the early hours of Thursday, following a surprise attack by Al-Mikhlafi's gunmen targeting a new security checkpoint for Shamsan groups, which resulted in injuries and the destruction of a military vehicle in the Al-Rawdah neighborhood, and the confrontations extended to the Zaid Al-Mushki neighborhood.

The return of the clashes comes in the context of arrangements made by the UAE to impose its control over the Saudi-backed camps in the countryside of Taiz.

Taiz and other areas under the Saudi-UAE control are witnessing security chaos, and almost daily crimes. They witness increasing of assassinations involving military security leaders, religious and social tendencies, kidnapping, bombings and clashes between militants fighting for influence among them.

The United Nations has confirmed that the security chaos in the southern governorates has become a source of concern for humanitarian workers. Deputy Director of Operations, Ghada Mudawi, assured the Security Council that the lack of security is a source of concern for workers, who are increasingly trying to steal cars, kidnappings and other attacks.
