African Communities Condemn Saudi Crimes Against Migrants

News - Yemen: Members of African communities organized a press conference on Monday in front of the United Nations office, in the presence of a number of wounded Africans who were wounded by Saudi forces' fire.

“The African migrants were subjected to the most severe types of torture until death, including electric shock, beating with heavy tools, and direct targeting with live bullets by the Saudi regime forces,” the head of the Coordination of Refugee and Migrant Leaders in Yemen, Abdullah Al-Laithi, explained in a speech.

“It is not strange for the Saudi regime, which kills the children and women of Yemen, to target immigrants at the borders,” Al-Laithi added.

He pointed out that some of the survivors of the brutality of the Saudi forces are receiving treatment in the hospitals of the International Organization for Migration, which did not move a finger and did not issue a statement of condemnation, despite being informed of what is happening in the Saudi borders.

He called on everyone with a living conscience to work to uncover Saudi crimes, calling on international organizations to open investigations into these crimes.

Ethiopian Community Monitors 9 Massacres in Saudi Arabia, Resulting in Death, Injury of 724 Immigrants

For his part, the spokesman for the Ethiopian community, Abdel Fattah Mohamed, stated that during 2022, the Ethiopian community monitored the Saudi regime committing nine massacres that claimed the lives of more than 189 immigrants and injured about 535 others.

He called on the Ethiopian federal government to open an urgent investigation into the massacre committed by the Saudi regime against immigrants at the border.

For his part, the head of the Somali community in Yemen, Ibrahim Muallem, said that what the Saudi forces are doing in terms of killing and torturing migrants indicates the corruption of the Riyadh regime, which sheds the blood of innocent people and enjoys killing them.

Muallem condemned what immigrants were subjected to at the border by brutally killing them at the hands of the Saudi forces. He appealed to African countries to investigate the crimes of the Saudi regime.

In early November, Al-Masirah channel obtained scenes of the Saudi regime targeting and liquidating African migrants at its borders.

The scenes showed dozens of bodies killed by Saudi border guards. They also showed that the Saudi border guards handcuffed dozens of Ethiopian immigrants, believed to be moments before they were killed.

African survivors of the massacre confirmed that the Saudi soldiers deliberately electrocuted a room after collecting dozens of Ethiopian immigrants in it.

They pointed out that the Saudi border guards used to shoot directly and often used mortars to eliminate gatherings of migrants, stressing that about five migrants are killed every day at the border and many are injured.

In late July, the International Organization for Migration revealed the killings of migrants at the hands of the Saudi border guards, north of Sa'adah Governorate.

In a brief report, the organization said on Twitter that it had verified nine separate incidents that killed 189 and seriously injured 535 migrants at the Yemeni-Saudi border with the northern Yemeni governorate of Sa'adah.

The organization suggested that the number of victims as a result of Saudi forces targeting migrants with artillery, machine guns and live bullets is much more than that statistic.
