Yemen War Crimes: UAE Stops Lawsuit Against It by Financial Bribes

News – Middle East: Media and human rights reports revealed that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) paid nearly $18 million in order to stop an international lawsuit against it. Reports stated that these lawsuits accuse Abu Dhabi of committing war crimes and assassinations of dozens of politicians and journalists in Yemen.

Reports pointed out that the UAE used American and European mercenary companies in Yemen to carry out its crimes.

According to a document of the Special Unit (T) of the UAE in Yemen, Abu Dhabi paid 600,000 Saudi riyals to a law firm in early 2020.

It pointed out that the journalist Abdullah Dobla and other politicians assigned a lawyer firm at the same period to sue the UAE on charges of war crimes in Yemen.

According to Gulf 24, wholesale bribes are behind the win of the UAE candidate, Major General Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi, as head of the International Criminal Police Organization, Interpol.

Diplomatic sources said that Abu Dhabi bribed huge sums for the benefit of individuals and countries to ensure that Al-Raisi would vote in the organization’s elections in Istanbul on Thursday.

It revealed that communications, incentives and threats arrived from the Emirates to individuals and countries in order to impose Al-Raisi as the head of the organization.

The Interpol page stated that the Emirati candidate, Al-Raisi, will hold the position for four years.

Al-Raisi will assume responsibility for the Executive Committee of Interpol, which is responsible for representing the international organization and implementing the decisions of its General Assembly. The committee includes a president, three vice-presidents, and nine delegates representing different regions of the world, according to the Interpol website.

Interpol gives its president an honorary role, while the Secretary-General handles the business, and he is currently Juergen Stock, who was appointed for a second term of five years in 2019.

A state of tension and anxiety prevailed within the corridors of government in the Emirates, fearing the failure of its security official candidate headed by the International Police Organization (Interpol), who is accused of horrific crimes.

A European movement announced its continuation of its efforts to prevent the election of Al-Raisi to the presidency of Interpol.

French MP Hubert-Julien Lavier explained that the movement continues to prevent the election of Nasser Al-Raisi as head of Interpol.

He justified their efforts by the fact that Al-Raisi is involved in gross human rights violations, including torture of human rights defenders and prisoners of conscience. European deputies and jurists held a press conference in the French National Assembly in Paris against the possibility of Al-Raisi being elected to the presidency of Interpol.

The conference was attended by a number of journalists, human rights defenders and victims of torture in the UAE.

Prominent French human rights lawyer William Bourdon said efforts are continuing to bring Raisi to justice.

He referred to his efforts with Turkish lawyers to file a complaint against Al-Raisi in Turkey, as the president of Interpol will be elected in its 89th session from November 23-25 in Istanbul.
