UN, Security Council Must Realize, Blockade Imposed on Yemen Is a Crime

News - Yemen: Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein Al-Ezzi affirmed that the blockade imposed on the people of Yemen  is a war crime against humanity.

He made it clear that the Secretary-General of the UN, the Security Council and European countries are still dealing with the crime of blockading Yemen as if it is a lawful act by the US-Saudi aggression.

For its part, The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Sana'a, Hisham Sharaf, stressed during his meeting with the Executive Director of UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), Catherine Russell, the need to end the military aggression and lift the comprehensive blockade.

Minister Sharaf stressed that ending the US-Saudi aggression and lifting the blockade is the basis for addressing the repercussions of the humanitarian disaster and reaching a comprehensive peace settlement.

He also stressed the importance of the visit by the Director of UNICEF to see the reality of the situation and the humanitarian catastrophe suffered by the Yemeni people, especially children, indicating that this visit will contribute to revealing the scale of the disaster experienced by the children of Yemen.

"Sana'a is working to provide facilities to international organizations operating in Yemen, especially UNICEF, expressing hope that the organization will expand its programs in Yemen," he said.

The Executive Director of the UN Children's Fund confirmed that the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen is at the top of the organization's work agenda in order to mitigate the effects of the humanitarian disaster in the country.

For its part, President Al-Mashat pointed out the need for the UN to bear its responsibility in empowering the Yemeni people with their wealth, in order to achieve the payment of salaries to all employees, as it is natural human rights without which peace cannot be achieved.

He explained that the Yemeni people are suffering from the largest humanitarian crisis in the world in light of the continuation of aggression and siege on it, and the interruption of the salaries of all state employees, while US-Saudi aggression is looting Yemen's oil and gas wealth.

Al-Mashat called on the UN to seek to alleviate the increasing human suffering of the Yemeni people as a result of the continued US-Saudi aggression and Siege.
