Yemen Has Options to Confront US-Saudi Aggression In Case Economic Blockade Continues

Yemen: Possibilities have become open by the Sana'a government regarding confronting the US-Saudi aggression against Yemen, after the end of the truce on the second of last October, the continuation of intermittent military skirmishes on some fronts, and the continuation of the blockade.

At a time when the truce was supposed to lead to a preliminary settlement towards a comprehensive peace, and to end the war by the end of this year, the coalition's intransigence was the firm stance on Sana'a's humanitarian demands towards the Yemeni People. Foremost of which was the payment of employee salaries and the lifting of the blockade, which are demands that do not pose any threat to the coalition and its supporters from Western countries.

The vacuum after the end of the truce imposed a state of no peace, and many indicators of the continuation of the war. The US administration did not pick up the initiative of many members of Congress to vote on a law that would end the war on Yemen. Rather, it deliberately postponed the resolution instead of adopting it in order to extract its strategic ally, Saudi Arabia, from the quagmire of the war that has been going on for eight years.

It seems that the diplomatic options are about to expire, and that the initiatives to end the war presented by Sana'a were dropped by the coalition like autumn leaves, so that the specter of war would haunt Yemen again. This time, it seems that the battle will be wider, with the entry of piracy of the Yemeni sea and islands into the sphere of occupation openly and flagrantly.

According to media sources, the Supreme Political Council in Sana'a instructed the Armed Forces to be ready. The army's first actions after the truce ended was to warn commercial ships against the continued looting of Yemen’s oil from any governorate. Warning strikes continued on the ships that arrived at the ports of western Yemen, forcing ships to leave after the foreign companies who sent them realized that there was no way to circumvent Sana’a's warnings and that the strikes might turn these ships into burning wreckage when they persisted in the Yemeni sovereignty, and the abuses of legitimate threats.

Message to US-Saudi Aggression Through Delegation of Oman

Last week, an Omani delegation visited the capital Sana'a to discuss ways to renew the humanitarian and military truce. The visit was a reflection of the developments that resulted from the coalition's continued imposition of the blockade, and the start of military meetings in Riyadh to discuss the military situation in Yemen.

After the visit, member of the Political Council Mohammad Ali al-Houthi sent a message to the coalition through the negotiating delegation of Oman, in which he said, “Carry a message from us to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that if they have a surplus in the budget, they should reduce the taxes that burdened their citizens.” He stressed that if the war returns, the Saudi budget will be zero and the deficit will occur, as happened in the past years, because Yemen has men who are capable of confrontation and achieving victories.

The Minister of Defense in the Sana'a government, Major General Mohammad Al-Atefi, had called on the countries involved in aggression to stop the war, threatening strong strikes against them.

“The coalition’s tendency to arrange its papers during the truce and to purchase air defense systems will not protect it from the qualitative strikes of the Armed Forces,” he said. "If the aggression continues to attack and besiege our people, we will make ballistic missiles and drones in the skies of their countries like swarms of locusts."

No Retreat, No Surrender

What is certain is that Sana’a has reached this time the line of no return in retreating from the conditions presented to the American and Saudi tables, and that negotiations by any party will not lead to a result, as long as the blockade is still imposed and the war in its military and economic forms continues. Therefore, the only available option is to exhaust the countries involved in aggression economically by striking their vital facilities.
