89 Million US Dollars Losses of Water, Sanitation Corporation in Taiz Due to US-Saudi Aggression

News - Yemen: The Director of the Water and Sanitation Corporation in Taiz, Muhammad Al-Sabri, announced Tuesday that the corporation’s losses as a result of direct and indirect targeting by the US-Saudi aggression amounted to 89 million US dollars.

Al-Sabri explained in a statement to Al-Masirah that the corporation is about to stop working due to the cessation of UNICEF support with oil derivatives and alternative energy, appealing to humanitarian organizations to support the corporation.

Saudi Arabia and many of its allies have been waging a war on Yemen since 2015 to restore power to the country’s Riyadh-friendly former officials. The war and a simultaneous siege that the US-Saudi-led coalition has been enforcing on the country has killed hundreds of thousands of Yemenis.

The invasion has pushed entire Yemen close to the brink of outright famine, turning the country into the scene of the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

The children of Yemen pay the price the most, until their lives have become a struggle for survival, after thousands lost their lives, while hundreds of thousands are on the brink of death, a summary said by UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell in a report after her visit to Yemen this month.

UNICEF says that the number of children killed in the Yemen war has exceeded 11,000, a third of them dead, including 62 children who have been killed or wounded since the end of the truce and 74 between July and September due to landmines and unexploded ordnance, planted by the aggression. More than 2 million children suffer from malnutrition, and more than 9 million children lack water, sanitation and hygiene services under a suffocating human and economic blockade.
