News - Middle East: Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has arrived in Tehran at the head of a high-ranking delegation to hold talks with senior Iranian officials on the most important mutual and international issues.

Lukashenko was welcomed by Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Seyed Reza Fatemi Amin upon his arrival at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport in the Iranian capital on Sunday.

The official welcoming ceremony for Lukashenko, who has come to Iran for a two-day visit at the invitation of Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi, is to be held at the Saadabad Palace on Monday.

Lukashenko’s visit is aimed at developing comprehensive cooperation and conducting negotiations on industrial, agricultural, and transportation projects as well as discussing regional and global issues.

Last month, the Belarusian president expressed his desire to travel to Tehran to discuss bilateral issues and current international and regional issues.

“Since Iran has shown rapid economic and welfare growth in today’s complex conditions, this country is considered an important player in the region and the international arena,” he said in a February 11 message to Raeisi on the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
