President Al-Mashat Congratulates Lebanon on Resistance and Liberation Day
News - Yemen: President Mahdi Al-Mashat sent Thursday a cable of congratulations to Lebanon on the occasion of the Resistance and Liberation Day.
He emphasized Yemen’s respect to the Lebanese Resistance and Liberation Day. “This holiday is a strategic turning point, which confirmed that the Israeli enemy is defeated.”
He confirmed that Yemen stands with Lebanon and its right to liberate remains of its occupied land, hoping that the political forces will be able to arrive as soon as possible to elect the President in order to preserve security, stability and civil peace.
On May 25, 2000, the Israeli army withdrew from territory in Southern Lebanon, marking the end of the South Lebanon conflict (1985–2000).
The withdrawal came after the continued attack on Israeli military positions in occupied Lebanese territory by Hezbollah forced Israeli forces to withdraw. It is celebrated as an important day in the history of Lebanon.
