US, UK Loot Yemeni Resources, Blame Ousted Government: Analyst

News - Middle East: The United States and Britain plunder Yemen’s oil and gas through ships they rent from third parties in order to incriminate the ousted Yemeni government, says a political analyst.

In an interview with the Press TV website, Moneer Esmail Alshami, a political analyst and writer from Yemen, highlighted the destructive actions of the US and UK, especially with regard to looting Yemen’s oil and gas resources.
They steal Yemen’s oil and gas “through ships they rent from some companies and other countries,” he said, adding, “They don’t use their own ships so as to accuse the mercenary Yemeni government of stealing these resources, while they do not allow the mercenaries to export even one liter of these resources.”
“Everyone knows that these two countries control everything in Yemeni waters,” he stated.
Backed by the United States and its allies, Saudi Arabia has been leading a regional military coalition in a devastating war against Yemen since March 2015.
The war began months after the former Yemeni government’s president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, resigned from presidency and fled to Riyadh. Ever since, the Ansarullah resistance movement has been running the Yemeni government in the capital Sana’a.
Throughout the course of the war, Ansarullah has consistently named the United States and its allies as the major force behind the war, which has killed tens of thousands of Yemenis and turned the entire nation into the scene of the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
“A year ago, Sana’a approved the prohibition of plundering Yemen’s oil and gas resources, after which, the US and UK, understanding Sana’a’s seriousness in targeting ships that approach Yemeni waters, stopped the process of stealing these resources,” Alshami explained.
In this regard, he highlighted a recent statement by Yemeni President Mahdi al-Mashat, who warned that American and British forces would receive a crushing response in case of attempting to plunder Yemen’s energy resources.
The owners of “Sinmar Jane” and “Bolivar” tankers were warned of dire consequences if their captains opt to moor in the Port of Aden, al-Mashat said on Wednesday.
Al-Shami said the ships backed off after the statement.
No future for US, UK in south Yemen
Asked about the future of US-UK plots to divide Yemen, especially in the south of the country, the political commentator told the Press TV website that after the failure of the Saudi-led coalition in the military occupation of Yemen, the two countries tried hard to push the talks between Sana’a and Riyadh toward failure.
He argued that with their destructive role, the two aggressors were seeking to consolidate their foothold in southern Yemen, especially in the oil-rich provinces of “Shabwah” and “Hadramaut”.
“As Mahdi al-Mashat declared, Sana’a will not remain silent in the face of such a presence. America should take this warning seriously, because no future can be imagined for the plans of warmongers and aggressors in the southern Yemeni provinces,” he said.
Alshami also criticized the international community for its submission to the US hegemony.
Yemeni people, he went on, “rely only on the capabilities and strength of their armed forces to confront the destructive actions of the US and UK and pin no hope on others.”
