News - Yemen: Yemen’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein al-Azzi expressed appreciation on Saturday evening for Spain's refusal to be swayed by American and British falsehoods regarding maritime navigation.

The Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized that Sana'a respects those who respect the truth and hopes that such rational stances continue and expand.

Al-Azzi called on everyone to continue to distance themselves from the stances of America and Britain that provoke shame and threaten peace and security.

Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin announced the formation of the coalition – including Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Seychelles, Spain and the UK – to patrol the Red Sea in response to Yemeni strikes on ships bound for the Israeli-occupied territories, which came in retaliation for the Tel Aviv regime’s war on the Gaza Strip.

Spain’s Defense Ministry denied Washington’s claims that it will participate in the multinational force.

In a statement released to Spanish media outlets including the ABC and La Vanguardia, the ministry said Spain cannot make the decision unilaterally, and is subject to decisions made by the EU and NATO.

Meanwhile, Spanish media clarified that the parliament did not approve participation in the maritime alliance announced and promoted by Washington, considering the decision to participate as bypassing decision protocols in Spain.

Observers affirmed that the reports from Spanish media represent a blow to the United States, which is attempting to involve and gather several countries into the alliance it announced with the aim of protecting the Israeli enemy entity under the banner of "navigation protection."
