Yemeni Foreign Ministry Urges EU Not to Involve in A Losing Battle

News - Yemen: Yemen's Ministry of Foreign Affairs views the discussion of forming a maritime alliance for European Union countries in the Red Sea as interference in the internal affairs of the countries bordering the Red Sea.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the discussion of forming a maritime alliance for European Union countries in the Red Sea sends a negative message that the Union is working to violate international law and human rights agreements.

It explained that this move is aimed at providing support to the Israeli enemy in its aggression and siege on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, displaying a clear disregard for international conventions and the demands of the people, including those of European Union countries, whose citizens participate in demonstrations rejecting and condemning the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The statement highlighted that the formation of a maritime alliance by European Union countries coincides with attempts by Washington and London to form a hostile military alliance in the region. This initiative threatens to militarize the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, posing a threat to international peace and security. It has sparked the anger of many free people worldwide and jeopardizes European interests in the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its confirmation that the Yemeni Naval Forces will not be deterred by any threat or temptation to halt the prevention of ships owned by the Israeli enemy or heading to the occupied Palestinian ports. This determination will persist until the military aggression ends, the siege is lifted, and humanitarian, food, medical aid, and fuel are allowed to enter the Gaza Strip without obstacles.

The statement called on the European Union countries to reassess the situation and avoid involvement in a losing battle, whether humanitarian, political, or military. It urged them to focus their efforts on addressing the root causes of the problem, including the continuation of military aggression and the blockade on the Gaza Strip.

European Union member states gave initial backing on Tuesday to the mission to protect Israel-bound ships from attacks by Yemen in the Red Sea,  While Yemen's operations are meant to help bring a halt to the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, which has so far killed over 24,000 people, mostly women and children.

In the early hours of Friday, American and British warplanes targeted five regions in Yemen, including the capital Sana'a and the provinces of Hodeidah, Taiz, Hajjah, and Sa’adah, launching 73 missiles. This aggression resulted in the death of at least five people and the injury of six others.

The US and UK launched a series of aerial and navy strikes against Yemen in response to the repeated attacks that Yemen conducted on Israeli-bounded ships in the Red Sea. The aggression was conducted with support from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and the Netherlands.

Since the Israeli regime's relentless military campaign against Gaza commenced in early October, the Yemenis have openly declared their support for Palestine's struggle against the Israeli occupation.

In recent actions, the Armed Forces have conducted attacks on ships that have ties with Israel near Yemeni ports. On November 19, they intercepted and seized a vessel associated with the Tel Aviv regime.
