According to a British website, hundreds of Jordanians have held protests demanding an end to what they called "the Zionist land bridge" aimed at circumventing the impact of the attacks on ships heading to Israeli ports by the Yemeni Armed Forces in response to the blockade and genocidal crimes against Gaza residents since last October 7.
The Middle East Eye confirmed the arrival of the first batch of commercial shipments of fresh products to "Israel" in mid-December, coming from the UAE through a new alternative route that passes through Saudi Arabia and Jordan and takes two days.
The website pointed out that the Jordanian government has since repeatedly attempted to dispel the reports as misinformation, however, a recent report by Israeli Channel 13 caused widespread anger in Jordan.
On 31 January, the channel broadcast interviews with truck drivers coming from the UAE carrying goods for Israel and drone footage of dozens of commercial trucks parked at the border crossing that connects Jordan to Israel in the Jordan Valley region.
After confirming the accuracy of the information denied by their government, hundreds of Jordanians carried out numerous protests and marches in recent days in cities such as Amman, Irbid, Aqaba, Karak, and Zarqa, demanding the severance of ties with "Israel," cancellation of gas agreements, and prevention of any truck traffic coming from Gulf countries to "Israel."
Dozens of students formed a human chain and raised banners condemning the trucks carrying goods through their country to break the Yemeni siege on the Zionist enemy, disregarding the lives of Gaza residents facing the risk of famine and death by starvation.
Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the Israeli regime's decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.
Since the start of the offensive, the Tel Aviv regime has killed at least 27,947 Palestinians and injured more than 67,459 others.
Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under the rubble in Gaza, which is under “complete siege” by Israel.
In solidarity with the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, the Yemeni Armed Forces have targeted ships in the Red Sea with owners linked to Israel or those going to and from ports in the occupied territories.
