Yemeni Parliament Condemns International Community's Silence Regarding Zionist Massacres in Rafah

News - Middle East: During its meeting on Monday, Yemen's Parliament strongly condemned the silence from Arab and international entities regarding the reported brutal actions in Rafah.

The Parliament urged Arab, regional, and international bodies, along with the global community, to swiftly apply pressure using all available means to enforce international law. That is to prevent further brutal actions by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people and avert a potential humanitarian catastrophe in Rafah.

It emphasized the need for united international and regional efforts to prevent further harm in Rafah, which houses approximately one and a half million Palestinian citizens displaced to what is considered a safe area in the Gaza Strip.

The Parliament underscored the necessity for united international and regional efforts to prevent further harm in Rafah, a city housing approximately one and a half million Palestinian citizens displaced to what is considered a safe area in the Gaza Strip.

Furthermore, the Parliament regarded the targeting of Rafah as part of a policy of forced displacement, causing increased suffering and violating international and humanitarian laws, as well as relevant Security Council and United Nations General Assembly resolutions.

Earlier in the day, at least 100 civilians, mostly women and children, were killed and nearly 230 others wounded in extensive air raids and artillery strikes by the Israeli regime against Rafah.

The aggression came as more than 1.4 million people, about five times Rafah's usual population, have fled to the city amid Israel's genocide in the Gaza Strip, which has killed upwards of 28,300 Palestinians since its commencement on October 7, 2023.

Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, ordered the Israeli military on Friday to prepare to evacuate civilians from Rafah ahead of a planned ground operation against the city. Aid organizations, however, say such a move will be nearly impossible, given the scale of devastation elsewhere in Gaza and the huge number of people trapped in the besieged area.
