Minister of Transport Confirms Regular Ship Entry at Hodeidah Port Despite Recent Israeli Attack

News - Yemen: The Minister of Transport in the caretaker government, Abdulwahab Al-Durra, confirmed the regular entry of ships to the docks of the port of Hodeidah.

During a meeting he chaired on Monday at the port of Hodeidah, Minister Al-Durra pointed out the work plan and emergency measures taken by the Red Sea Ports Corporation after the Israeli attack on the port. He also highlighted the challenges that the port's service and humanitarian activities faced and overcame in recent years.

He noted that the situation at the port is stable and there is no cause for concern, appreciating the efforts made to contain the fires resulting from the Israeli airstrike on the oil tanks at the port last Saturday.

The governor of Hodeidah praised the efforts of the Ministry of Transport and the employees of the Red Sea Ports Corporation for their continuous commitment to maintaining operational activities at the port of Hodeidah.

He explained that the port had previously been subjected to such attacks to halt its operations with the aim of starving the Yemeni people, emphasizing the crucial service and humanitarian role of the port of Hodeidah in meeting the basic needs of citizens.

For his part, the first deputy governor, Ahmed Al-Bishri, confirmed the local authority's support for the ministry and the corporation's leadership in restoring the port's activity to its maximum capacity.

The deputy head of the corporation, Nasser Al-Nassiri, also reviewed the state of the port of Hodeidah before and after it was targeted by the Zionist enemy's airstrikes, noting that the removal of debris resulting from the targeting of cranes at berths 6 and 7 is progressing rapidly.

At the end of the meeting, they listened to an explanation from the container terminal manager, Engineer Shawqi Morshed, and the marine operations captain, Mohammed Al-Sayyis, about the services provided and the ongoing activities at the port. They noted the beginning of the reception of ships waiting at the anchorage and the resumption of the process of unloading goods from them.

On Saturday, Israeli warplanes targeted civilian buildings, oil facilities, and a power station in the Yemeni province of Hodeidah, killing six citizens and injuring 87 others.

The Israeli aggression has faced widespread condemnation both locally and across the Arab world.

Brushing off official accounts that the airstrikes had targeted civilian structures, Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari alleged that the regime’s aircraft had struck “military targets” in Hodeidah.

He also said the strikes had come in response to the attacks that the Yemeni Armed Forces had been carrying out against the occupied Palestinian territories over the past months.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have been targeting the territories as well as Israeli ships and vessels affiliated with the occupying regime since October 7, when Tel Aviv began a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip. They have vowed to keep up their operations as long as the regime sustains the war and a simultaneous siege that it has been enforcing against the Palestinian territory.

Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Yahya Sare'e announced after the airstrikes that the response to Israeli aggression would include "vital targets of the Israeli enemy," reiterating their previous statement that Yafa (Jaffa) is considered an unsafe area.
