Victory Illusion of ‘Israel’ Evaporates Amid Continuing Struggle in Gaza Post-October 7th, 2023

Middle East: The situation after October 7, 2023, is not the same as before—this is at least what all military and political data within the Israeli occupation entity confirm. Given the complex dynamics of the battle, opinions vary, and the results are intertwined after ten months since its inception about who will ultimately prevail.

On the 10th day after 300 days of the "Al-Aqsa Storm" battle, Palestinian jihadist and resistance factions in the Gaza Strip continue to confront Israeli occupation forces on all fronts, especially in the southern part of the Strip. The battles are concentrated in Rafah and Khan Younis, inflicting more losses on the occupation in terms of personnel, equipment, and machinery.

According to globally recognized war strategies, victory in war is often measured by the extent to which the declared objectives that led to the conflict have been achieved. However, if these objectives or part of their goals have not been realized, the party that engaged in the war cannot be considered victorious, even if it inflicted significant losses on the other side.

The Israeli entity claims that it has achieved its military objectives by destroying significant infrastructure belonging to Hamas and killing several of its leaders. The entity's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, stated that "victory is near" and emphasized that his forces are close to achieving their declared goal of "eliminating Hamas and destroying its military capabilities."

Nevertheless, Hebrew reports indicate that Hamas has managed to rebuild some of its military capabilities despite the intense attacks, meaning that the conflict has not ended decisively and that Hamas is still capable of resistance. Therefore, it can be said that achieving "victory" depends on how the objectives are defined and whether they have been fully met.

International media have noted that the situation on the ground in Gaza is highly complex. Despite the intensive Israeli strikes, the resistance factions still retain their ability to fight and rebuild their military infrastructure. This reflects the organizational strength and capacity to adapt to difficult circumstances.

Based on these findings, the resistance still retains a significant ability to influence and control, with its ability to adapt and continue despite the pressures and military strikes, especially after the assassination of leader Ismail Haniyeh. The movement's leadership was taken over by Yahya Sinwar, the architect of October 7th, demonstrating the resistance's determination not to allow Israel to achieve any decisive victory on the ground.

The "Al-Aqsa Storm" reveals the limits of the Israeli military's power:

If the fact that the "Al-Aqsa Storm" battle has surpassed ten months confirms that it is still present with all its capabilities, forces, determination, and will, it also shows that the grand statements from the entity's leaders about "complete victory" have been nothing more than soap bubbles in the air.

More significantly, it is becoming clear that this illusionary victory, according to various experts, including Kurt Campbell, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, is "unlikely or impossible" in this war—neither now nor in the distant future.

Global research centers indicate that although the entity has succeeded in this war— a war waged as if driven by primitive, chaotic, and illogical revenge forces— in exterminating the lives of tens of thousands of women and children in Gaza and in rendering Gaza itself uninhabitable, turning it into daily increasing rubble devoid of residents, it has not defeated the resistance.

American observers draw more realistic comparisons, noting that this "type of destruction responds to the extremist rhetoric" often repeated by the muscular, extremist Zionist leaders and settlers, who urge their military forces to "bomb them back to the Stone Age," a fate originally desired for the Vietnamese people by U.S. Air Force General Curtis LeMay in 1962.

Western media have described Israel's actions in Gaza as "self-defense," which is outrageous and disproportionate. The relentless military response and suffocating siege inflict indescribable suffering on civilians, turning entire neighborhoods in Gaza into ruins, including basic infrastructure and essential human necessities.

In Washington, a report released last February by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, known as the Annual Threat Assessment of the U.S. Intelligence Community, expressed doubts about Israel's ability to completely destroy the Palestinian resistance, noting that Israel is likely to face long-term armed resistance from Hamas for years to come.

The *New York Times* quoted Douglas London, a retired CIA officer who spent 34 years with the agency, saying, "The Palestinian resistance to Israel is an idea as much as it is a tangible group of people." Despite the damage the Israeli enemy may inflict on Hamas, it still possesses strength, resilience, funding, and a long line of people likely waiting to join after all the fighting, destruction, and loss of life.

This aligns with a statement made by "IOF" spokesman Daniel Hagari last June, almost echoing London's observation, saying, "The effort to destroy Hamas and make Hamas disappear is simply throwing sand in the public's eyes." "Anyone who thinks we can eliminate Hamas is mistaken."

The general scene of operations on the 10th day after 300 days:

In this context, the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, announced that they had targeted Israeli soldiers and vehicles with a barrage of mortar shells northeast of Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip.

The brigades also targeted an Israeli military command post in the vicinity of the 86th hill, "Al-Kurd," northeast of Khan Younis with a number of "Ababil" explosives, and published footage of their attacks on the occupied city of Ashkelon and the settlements surrounding Gaza with rocket barrages.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, for their part, targeted an Israeli armored personnel carrier with a "Yassin 105" shell in the "Zalata" area, east of Rafah city. In a statement, they said: "We targeted an Israeli force fortified inside a building west of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, causing casualties among them."

The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades also targeted an Israeli soldiers' gathering northeast of Khan Younis with a barrage of mortar shells and released footage of their fighters striking occupation forces and their vehicles in central "Yibna" camp, south of Rafah city, and around the "Rafah Crossing" with "60mm" mortar shells.

The "Omar Al-Qassem" forces, the military wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, confirmed that they had targeted Israeli forces with mortar shells near the Japanese Garden in the "Tel Al-Sultan" neighborhood, west of Rafah city, southern Gaza Strip.

In this context, fierce clashes took place between resistance fighters and occupation forces in the "Zalata and Al-Tannour" neighborhoods, east of Rafah city, prompting the Israeli army to intensify its ground maneuvers in recent days, avoiding staying in one place due to deadly resistance operations.

In a related development, the Israeli military acknowledged that 12 soldiers had been injured in the ongoing battles in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours. Since the beginning of the "Al-Aqsa Storm" epic, it has been admitted under the "allowed to publish" clause that 692 officers and soldiers have been killed.

The Israeli military also acknowledged that 4,284 officers and soldiers had been injured, including 2,190 since the start of the ground operation, although the actual number of casualties is much higher, as documented by resistance operations.
