News - Yemen: The Sana'a government announced renaming its Ministry of Defense as part of a broader phase of change and reconstruction, coinciding with the formation of the new government.

Under the changes introduced by the new "Government of Change and Reconstruction," the Ministry of Defense has been renamed the Ministry of Defense and Military Production. This change reflects its new role in the development and manufacturing of advanced weapons across various categories.

Yemen began rapidly developing and producing military equipment following the US-Saudi aggression that began on March 26, 2015.

On March 11, 2021, President Mahdi Al-Mashat inaugurated the first exhibition of locally-made Yemeni military industries.

The "Martyr Leader Exhibition" showcased new military products for various units of the Yemeni Armed Forces, including weapons, systems, and models that are 100 percent locally produced.

The exhibition featured ballistic and cruise missiles, drones with various ranges and missions, as well as naval weapons, anti-tank weapons, infantry weapons, artillery, sniper rifles, and other arms. These weapons were noted for their operational effectiveness and precise combat and tactical capabilities in the field.
