Leader of the Revolution Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi Speaks on the Latest Development of the Israeli Aggression Against Gaza and Regional Updates, in English (Aug. 22, 2024)

I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the outcast.

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

Praise is to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. I believe that there is no god but Allah, the Sovereign and the Manifest Truth, and that Muhammad, our master, is His servant, Messenger, and Last Prophet.

O Allah, confer Your salat and blessings upon Muhammad and the Family of Muhammad as You conferred Your salat and blessings upon Ibrahim and the Family of Ibrahim. You are Owner of Praise, Owner of Glory! And be pleased with Muhammad's good companions and all Your righteous servants and mujahidin.

Brothers and sisters, peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

Allah (Glory be to Him) says in the Holy Quran, {'And We will surely test you until We make evident those mujahidin [who strive for the cause of Allah] among you and those who are patient, and We will test your affairs'}[Muhammad 47:31]. This is the word of truth from Almighty Allah.

The Israeli enemy continues to commit the crime of the century and perpetrate genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip for 321 days. These days are not like any other; they have witnessed horrific atrocities committed by the Israeli enemy. They have witnessed criminality, savagery, brutality, and terrible oppression through the Israeli enemy's practices against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, with American complicity and western support. The genocide involves mass killings and massacres committed through demolishing residential neighbourhoods on their inhabitants with large destructive American bombs and mass killing of the population (including children and women, the elderly and the young) and through other crimes that include killing displaced people in their camps and in sheltering schools and killing the residents in the streets and avenues and in every place in Gaza. The genocide also involves starvation, epidemics, torture (including the torture of captives), and the use of police dogs, among other horrific crimes.

These hundreds of days are unlike any others. They are days of unparalleled suffering endured by the dear, oppressed Palestinian people. Their suffering continues to renew, and the injustice committed against them grows with each passing year (spanning for decades) and with what arises in regard to this injustice. With what passed and what has arisen and since the British occupation and its illegitimate offspring (the Zionist Jewish gangs), which the occupation enabled to take over and continue the crimes of occupation and oppression against the Palestinian people—with all that has passed till today, the Palestinian people have suffered daily for decades. Not a single day has passed without the Palestinian people experiencing hardship. Their suffering has intensified during all stages of escalation, particularly during these hundreds of days on which the Israeli enemy wages its aggression on the Gaza Strip, committing crimes of genocide for 46 weeks, as we are now in the eleventh month.

In contrast, the responsibility and the religious, human, and moral duty upon Muslims are as great as this long-standing and profound injustice. In the face of the tragedy befalling the Palestinian people, the rest of the Muslims, to whom this people belong, have a religious duty that obliges them to stand with all they can to support the Palestinian people. This is in addition to their duty towards their sanctities, foremost among which is the Al-Aqsa Mosque. So why has there been such prolonged and worsening neglect, especially as the aggression against the Gaza Strip escalates? Why is this neglect? Why is there a huge gap between the sacred duty that is incumbent upon all Muslims and their reality and the way they are handling this responsibility?

The clear truth is that this reveals the significant gap between most members of the Islamic Ummah, especially the complacent and complicit regimes. As this enormous gap is between the current reality and the duties that are supposed to be fulfilled, it also exposes a vast gap between the majority of the Islamic Ummah (foremost among which are those complacent and complicit regimes) and their Quran, Islam, principles, values, and morals. This is a very serious issue because the position of supporting the Holy Al-Aqsa Mosque and the oppressed Palestinian people is an obligation rooted in faith, morality, religion, values, and principles. The level of extreme abandonment indicates a gap between the Ummah and those Islamic principles, faith-based values, and ethics, which is a very dangerous situation.

This is a serious matter that requires re-evaluation and reveals the unhealthy state that most members of the Ummah are experiencing at the moral and principled levels. Allah's way is to reveal the reality of people, the truth of their condition, and the level of their sincerity in their affiliation to faith. That is why Allah (Glory be to Him) has said in the Holy Quran, {'And We will surely test you until We make evident those mujahidin [who strive for the cause of Allah] among you and those who are patient, and We will test your affairs'}. Indeed, Allah (Glory be to Him) distinguishes, clarifies, reveals, and discerns the sincerity of those who claim to belong to Islam and faith because it is a great and sacred affiliation. However, Allah is the Mighty and the Wise, and He refuses to accept deceit, fraud, and lies; therefore, He distinguishes, reveals, clarifies, and discerns: {'Never would Allah leave the believers in the state which you are in until He distinguishes the nasty from the good'}[Ali 'Imran 3:179]. Events and situations in which the Ummah bears significant religious, moral, principled, and faith-based responsibilities arise, showing the extent of the sincerity of affiliation through the way its people respond to the demands imposed by this situation and this responsibility towards such events.

In the light of what is happening to the Palestinian people, the responsibility of jihad in the cause of Allah and defending the oppressed arises. Who is more oppressed than the Palestinian people?! Where is the position against the Israeli enemy (with all its criminality, disbelief, tyranny, injustice, and corruption on the earth), which is in fact an Islamic, a Quranic, and a religious position and a commitment of faith in every sense of the word?!

Allah (Glory be to Him ) classifies the reality of the Ummah, for He says, {'And Allah will make evident those who believe, and He will surely make evident the munafiqin'}[Al-'Ankabut 29:11]. Therefore, there is a great responsibility to remedy this major flaw and bridge this gap. This is because it is a gap that has effects related not only to the position regarding what is happening to the Palestinian people and their great oppression, but it is also, to the same extent, a gap between the Ummah and the principles, ethics, and values of its Islam, a gap between it and the Quran, and a gap between it and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH&F).

The moral, faith-based duty necessitates striving to bridge this gap. There lies a significant responsibility on the religious scholars and all the enlightened members of the Ummah to move forward in order to enlighten and raise awareness among the Ummah so that it becomes aware of the extreme danger this gap poses for the Ummah in its religion, its worldly life, and its Hereafter. Indeed, this danger extends even to the future of the Ummah in the Hereafter. There is a real danger.

That degraded spirit, the low level of abandonment, the absence of a sense of responsibility, and the bankruptcy of humanity and ethics pose a significant danger for the peoples of our Ummah and for the regimes as well. Any people might encounter such a situation as that which the Palestinian people are suffering. Considering the prevailing abandonment in the current reality of any other people, how would they respond if they were to face a situation similar to that experienced by the Palestinian people? Indeed, the Palestinian people are distinguished by their firmness, patience, jihad, and awareness. But what is the condition of other peoples? Does not this state of abandonment, human and moral bankruptcy, complete absence of a sense of responsibility, and deadened conscience (experienced by other peoples) pose a danger for them and an opportunity for their enemies?! Indeed, it is considered a tempting situation for the enemies of the Ummah, and it is, in fact, one of the factors that has emboldened the Israeli enemy to act as it does in Gaza. This is because it perceives many of the peoples and regimes of our Ummah as lifeless, with people having dead consciences. Also, it perceives that the Islamic ethics, values, and principles that could have motivated them to act have ended and diminished. This has emboldened it to do what it is doing to a greater extent. It is a very painful and unfortunate situation!

The position of most regimes, leaders, governments, elites, and many people of the nations of the Ummah has not risen to the level of a position taken by an elderly Norwegian woman. That elderly woman, who is in her seventies, said that she did not want to stay at home without doing anything for the children in Gaza. She joined a group of activists from around the world in a symbolic humanitarian effort, according to their resources, capabilities, and abilities, against the blockade on the Palestinian people. She joined them on a ship named after one of the children of Palestine, Handala. The elderly woman said that she had moved to the ship so that the children of Gaza would know they are not alone. This is how this elderly woman from Norway, from the farthest part of the earth, took an action, while those who are closer (in terms of sharing the same religious affiliation to Islam, sharing a common Arab identity, being neighbours, having common national security, and sharing other considerations) turned a blind eye. An elderly woman moved with a humanitarian impulse and within the limits of her capabilities; where are the armies, governments, elites, and peoples?!

Furthermore, we see [a positive position] in the position of the Colombian president. He banned the export of coal from his country to the Israeli enemy so as not to contribute to the suffering of the Palestinian people, to the oppression committed against the Palestinian people, or to the support of the Israeli enemy. On the contrary, Arab regimes and Arab export companies are sending fruits, food supplies, and various goods to the Israeli enemy. They offer nothing to the Palestinian people; instead, they provide what helps the Israeli enemy continue its aggression against the Palestinian people!

Despite all this, we have seen the great and distinguished position that expresses values, morals, Islam, the Quran, and the Prophet (PBUH&F) embodied in the mujahidin brothers in the Gaza Strip, with their faith-based firmness, steadfastness, patience, and bravery in the path of Allah (the Almighty) for eleven months. Despite the severe blockade (both the old and the new blockades) and despite the magnitude of destruction and aggression, they have remained firm and continue to stand up to the Israeli enemy, inflicting heavy losses upon it. They are worthy of the entire Ummah's celebrating them, taking pride in them, supporting them, and fulfilling its duty to assist and support them.

When the criminal Netanyahu went to America, the Americans did not only offer [him] applause and praise in Congress for his crimes in killing the children of the Arabs and their women in Palestine, but he also returned with more military, political, and financial support in order to continue his aggression and even to escalate further the assassinations that occurred after his return from America. So where is the Arab position, and where is the position of the Islamic countries as a whole, in praising the mujahidin in Palestine, the Palestinian people, and the leaders of jihad in Palestine through supporting them and providing them with all forms of aid, in contrast to what the enemies do with criminals, oppressors, aggressive tyrants, occupiers, and violators of all rights? Where is the support? Where is the backing? Where is the appreciation by Arabs and Muslims for the Palestinian people and their dear mujahidin, who are in the rightful position and are the owners of the just and sacred cause?

Instead of praise and appreciation, there is defamation. Some Arab regimes have employed their media outlets for defamation, slander, and continuous media attacks against the mujahidin brothers in the Gaza Strip. There is demoralisation. Moreover, in some Arab regimes, there is punishment through imprisonment, fines, torture, and sometimes even through exile for anyone who shows even sympathy on social media with the Palestinian people and their dear mujahidin in the Gaza Strip. Some have been imprisoned as punishment for this, tortured in prison, and fined heavily. Some were fined $250,000 for a social media tweet in which he expressed sympathy with the Palestinian people in the Gaza strip and their dear mujahidin. Others have been exiled from certain Arab countries because they showed sympathy with the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The firmness and steadfastness of the dear mujahidin in the Gaza Strip and the continuation of their operations targeting the Israeli enemy at the current level of intensity hold great value at the moral, human, and religious levels, as well as at the strategic level, serving the very cause, its outcomes, and its consequences. In the eleventh month, the operations of the mujahidin in the Gaza Strip continue in all their forms: ambushes, sniping, raids, mortar shelling, and targeting the Israeli enemy with explosive devices, missile attacks, and downing enemy drones. This is in addition to the very significant martyrdom operation carried out in Jaffa, which the enemy calls 'Tel Aviv', targeting the Israeli enemy. Resuming such operations to target the Israeli enemy is an important and successful step, with significant importance.

Eleven months have passed, but the will of the mujahidin in the Gaza Strip remains strong, firm, and unwavering; their resolve is deep-rooted; and they are firm. The same is true for the people [of Palestine], despite the immense suffering they endure.

As for the fronts of support, they are also ongoing and effective. The front of support in Lebanon (the Hezbollah front) is continuous and intense. Daily bombardment against the Israeli enemy continues with dozens of missiles, artillery shells, and squadrons of drones. The Israeli enemy acknowledges the significant impact of Hezbollah's operations in support of Gaza and also admits to the falling of killed and wounded individuals, even though it strives to obscure the magnitude of its losses in the media.

Additionally, the enemy is anticipating, with great and severe fear, the inevitable response operation from Hezbollah that aims at avenging the Israeli enemy's crime of targeting the great jihadist leader, Al-Sayyid Fouad Shukr (May Allah have mercy on him). It is also anticipating the Iranian response to the crime of assassinating the great Islamic mujahid martyr leader Ismail Haniyeh while he was in Iran as a guest. This was also a crime in which the Israeli enemy violated the Iranian sovereignty and dishonoured the Iranian dignity.

In fact, the enemy understands the inevitability of the response and is very afraid. This state of fear has reached a level that is significantly affecting the Israeli enemy. Many Israelis, especially in what the enemy calls 'Tel Aviv', remain in shelters, and the leaders of the Israeli enemy are also in a constant state of fear, operating underground in fortified bunkers. Most airline companies have suspended their flights, and the enemy's economic situation has been greatly impacted. Actually, the state of fear is influential as Al-Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah (May Allah protect him) said, 'It is part of the punishment.' That is because its impact on the enemy is as significant as the action itself, as if there were bombardment and as if there were operations striking the Israeli enemy. When the response comes, it will have a profound impact on the Israeli enemy, Allah willing. Indeed, one of the most important reasons for delaying the response is to ensure that it is a painful response to the Israeli enemy. The response is inevitably coming from the fronts of the axis.

The front of support in Yemen (the Yemen of faith), in the Battle of the Promised Conquest and the Holy Jihad, is also continuing its operations in support of the Palestinian people. This week, it carried out 21 operations, using 21 ballistic and winged missiles, drones, and naval vessels. The number of the ships targeted due to their association with the Israeli enemy and due to violating the ban decision [of shipment to Israel] on the Israeli enemy has reached 182, which is an important and large number. Despite the fact that the course of most of the ships has shifted away from the direction of the Indian Ocean and the far-reaches of the Indian Ocean, there are still active operations that evidently affect the enemy economically, including the complete disruption and closure of the port of Umm Al-Rashrash, which the enemy calls 'Eilat'.

Among this week's operations in targeting ships that violate the ban decision on the Israeli enemy, was [an operation targeting] a ship that was ruined by bombardment and swept away by the waves.

As for the hostile airstrikes against our people, carried out by the Americans in their aggression against our country, they have amounted to five airstrikes in Al-Hudaydah Governorate this week. They come in the context in which the Americans are moving to support the Israeli enemy. Indeed, the Americans are complicit with the Israeli enemy in what it is doing in the Gaza Strip and in its aggression on any front or in any Islamic or Arab country.

As for the public activities carried out by our dear people, they continue with their tremendous momentum, intensity, and diversity. This gladdens the heart as it expresses the awareness, values, morals, and faith-based identity of our dear people. In fact, it is not appropriate for the Islamic and Arab arena to be devoid of popular demonstrations of solidarity with the Palestinian people, while people continue taking to the streets in demonstrations and marches in even non-Islamic countries, as was the case last week, where people took to the streets in demonstrations and marches in Britain, Holland, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Sweden, Italy, and even America, despite repression and harassment. When it comes to the nature of this movement in those distant countries, the primary motive is humanitarian: They are not linked to the Palestinian people by the Islamic and Arab affiliation, shared values, national security, interests, and other ties that link our peoples to the Palestinians. However, it is the humanitarian motive that made some move (due to the extremely terrible, horrific crimes committed by the Israeli enemy and the massive starvation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip), although they are in those countries, in arenas with very intense activity and great media, cultural, and intellectual control in favour of the Israeli enemy. Amidst all that darkness, that humanitarian voice resounds, and those gatherings come out in demonstrations.

In contrast, it is our peoples who are supposed to be more concerned, interactive, aware, and imbued with a sense of human, religious, and moral responsibility. Nonetheless, the state of most peoples is clear. It is a state akin to death, as if the peoples died a long time ago: No voice is heard from them; there is no sign of action from them; and they show no visible interaction, except for too few cases. We all know the extremely negative role of the regimes that govern those peoples in ensuring that the reality remains as it is.

Our dear people and our country, both officially and popularly, have uniquely taken a distinct position. This is a great blessing and great divine success. Indeed, our dear people have stood out among the peoples of the entire world in terms of the level, the volume, and the density of this interaction. This is evident in the magnitude of the weekly turnout, which includes millions of people, and the intensity of activities, which are in the hundreds of thousands and have no precedent or equivalent in any other country in the world.

In regard to Arab countries, there is an ongoing movement of the Moroccan people, which is in contrast to the official position there. Unfortunately, the official position is one of collaboration, betrayal, and collusion with the Israeli enemy, and there is an increase in the level of economic cooperation with it. This is a very unfortunate thing! On the contrary, at the popular level, there is an ongoing movement, which is spreading in many Moroccan cities.

In our dear country, Yemen (the Yemen of faith), marches, demonstrations, and events (symposiums, gathering events, assemblies, and others) have reached 652,175, since the beginning of the barbaric, criminal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip up to date. This huge number (hundreds of thousands) indicates the intensity of these activities during these eleven months. This is a great blessing and tremendous success.

The outcome of training mobilisation has reached more than 432,000. We still hope—Allah willing—that there will be greater participation, regarding mobilisation in military training and preparation. It is because this also has great importance in the matter of preparing for jihad in the cause of Allah and also of readiness for positions greater than the level of demonstrations.

Mobilisation activities in regard to military parades, processions, and manoeuvres are ongoing, and they have reached 2,292.

The weekly turnout is ongoing in the capital and in various governorates, as well as in rural areas, under different conditions. As it was during the intense summer heat, even in the governorates that typically experience very high temperatures (such as Al-Hudaydah, some parts of Hajjah, and Al-Jawf), the [same] momentum remains even during the season of rains that Allah bestows upon our country. Actually, the marches and demonstrations continue even during rainfall, and the scenes of people taking to the streets in the rain in places like Sana'a, Dhamar, and other governorates reflect such firmness and determination to persist in and continue supporting the Palestinian people and not to empty the squares amid the ongoing aggression against them.

Our people are determined to continue their jihad and uphold their faith-based position, for this, first, reflects loyalty to Allah (Glory be to Him). Second, as long as there are injustice, oppression, and crimes committed by the Israeli enemy against the Palestinian people, our people will not be at ease. Its case is not like that of some other peoples and societies whose consciences have died, unfortunately. Our people—by the grace of Allah—truly live the life of faith and the life of human conscience, sense their responsibility, interact, get affected, grieve, and rage at what is happening to the Palestinian people. Therefore, they [our people] continue their turnout with such great momentum and such intensity of events and activities: {'This is the favour of Allah. He grants it to whoever He wills'}[Al-Ma'idah 5:54]. Indeed, it is a great blessing and success, as well as deliverance from the shame and disgrace that have befallen all those who abandoned and colluded in what is happening to the Palestinian people. Therefore, our dear people continue in their activities and weekly turnout.

I call upon our dear people to take to the streets in millions tomorrow, Allah willing, in the capital (Sana'a) and in the rest of the governorates and districts.

We would like to note that the call to jihad in the cause of Allah, so as to support the oppressed—who is more oppressed than the Palestinian people?!—and to have a position against the enemies of Allah and humanity (the Zionist Jews who are the most criminal in all human societies) is indeed the call of Allah in His Book and the call of His Messenger (PBUH&F) in his instructions, teachings, and biography. Actually, Allah (the Almighty) has said in the Holy Quran, {'O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered'}[Al-Anfal 8:24]. Hence, responding to Allah (the Almighty) and taking action in what grants the Ummah life, honour, dignity, strength, and presence in the arena to face enemies, challenges, and dangers will result in great goodness in this world and the Hereafter.

Indeed, our dear people stand in a position of honour, a position that brightens the face, and a position that brings pride even for the coming future generations. Our people will not have been stained by the shame of the abandonment that has tarnished many other peoples (It is only Allah's help that we seek!).

I ask Allah (Glory be to Him) to grant us and you success to gain what pleases Him with us, and to hasten victory and relief for the oppressed Palestinian people and their dear mujahidin. O Allah (Glory be to You), have mercy on our virtuous martyrs, heal the wounded among us, set free our captives, and grant us victory. You are All-Hearing!

Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
