September 11 Over 9 Years: Casualties, War Crimes, and Destruction of Infrastructure by US-Saudi Airstrikes on Yemen

Yemen: On September 11, during the years 2015 and 2016, the US-Saudi aggression deliberately targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure in Yemen. These attacks disrupted essential services and media outlets. They used banned weapons across the provinces of Sana’a, Sa'adah, Taiz, and Hodeidah, resulting in a tragic toll of martyrs and injured, mostly women and children. The airstrikes also destroyed homes, displaced families, and deprived students of their right to education, while attempting to silence the truth and prevent the world from seeing the war crimes being committed.

Below are key details of the aggression's crimes against the Yemeni people on this day:

2015: 3 Casualties as Aggression Targets Sleeping Civilians in Sa'adah

Late at night on September 11, 2015, the people of Sa'adah, Haydan, and Fout were awakened by the loud explosions of airstrikes. These raids left one martyr and two wounded, destroyed homes and vehicles, and caused a wave of displacement and fear among the residents.

In four brutal airstrikes, civilians were deliberately targeted, with no regard for their safety. The victims were women, children, and the elderly, simply living in their homes in Sa'adah. This incident was part of a systematic targeting of civilians and infrastructure.

2015: Airstrikes Target Sabaa TV in an Attempt to Silence the Truth in Sana’a

On the same day, US-Saudi airstrikes targeted Sabaa TV in the Thawra district of Sana’a. These strikes caused significant damage to the station’s equipment and infrastructure, disrupting broadcasting and inflicting a blow to Yemeni media. This attack was seen as a deliberate attempt to silence voices exposing the war crimes and suffering of the Yemeni people.

2015: Ten Martyrs in a Massacre by Airstrikes on a Home in Taiz

On September 11, 2015, US-Saudi airstrikes targeted the home of Sheikh Mohammed Mansour Al-Shawafi in Taiz, resulting in the deaths of ten family members, mostly women and children. The house was turned into rubble, and the scene left the community in shock and grief.

2016: Airstrikes Destroy Medical College and Exhibition Platform in Hodeidah

On this day in 2016, the US-Saudi coalition targeted the Medical College and an exhibition platform in Hodeidah, destroying them with American-made bombs. The strikes rendered the building unusable and displaced nearby families.

These attacks, along with thousands of others over the past nine years, highlight the devastating impact of the aggression on Yemen's infrastructure and people. The international community must act to stop these atrocities and hold those responsible accountable.
