September 19 Over 9 Years: 273 Casualties in US-Saudi War Crimes and Genocide on Yemen

Yemen: On September 19th in the years 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019, US-Saudi aggression airstrikes targeted markets, homes, bridges, historic cities, mosques, Qur'ans, medical clinics, and water stations in Sana'a, Sa'adah, Hajjah, and Hodeidah. These resulted in heinous war crimes and genocide that shocked humanity, with 156 martyrs, 117 injured, the displacement of dozens of families, and the orphaning of hundreds of children. This increased suffering, escalated economic and humanitarian crises, and destroyed cultural heritage.

Below are some of the prominent details of the crimes committed on this day against the Yemeni people:

2015: 153 Martyrs and Injured in Civilian Massacre in Sa'adah

On September 19, 2015, US-Saudi aggression airstrikes targeted the Al-Muqna' Market in Baqim District, Sa'adah, during peak shopping hours. The attack, using internationally banned cluster bombs, resulted in 106 martyrs and 35 injured in a horrifying scene of carnage.

Additionally, on the same day, airstrikes targeted a civilian home in the Asaya area of Majz District, killing nine and injuring three others. Simultaneous strikes on homes and a mosque in the Al-Rasam area of Haydan District caused widespread destruction and displaced families, all while desecrating copies of the Qur'an in a blatant war crime.

Massacre at Al-Muqna' Market:

The Al-Muqna' market, once bustling with life, turned into a scene of death. Airstrikes rained down on innocent civilians, killing without discrimination. Survivors witnessed unspeakable horror—mangled bodies, bloodshed, and cries for help, while more airstrikes continued, rendering rescue efforts impossible.

This tragedy orphaned children, widowed women, and plunged families into unimaginable grief. The attack on civilians marked a complete disregard for human life, ethics, and international law.

Deep Psychological Impact:

The survivors of these atrocities suffer from severe psychological trauma, including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The recovery from such devastation remains uncertain, with many unlikely to ever fully heal.

2016: 11 Martyrs and Injured, Destruction of Infrastructure in Sa'adah+

On September 19, 2016, aggression airstrikes targeted the Raghaffa Bridge in Majz District, Saada, killing 10 people and injuring 1, while cutting off vital transportation routes for goods, patients, and basic life necessities. On the same day, an airstrike targeted a medical clinic in the Al-Amal area of Al-Safra District, depriving nearby villages of basic healthcare services.

September 19, 2017: Water Station Attack Kills and Injures 7 in Hajjah

In a new crime on September 19, 2017, the aggression targeted a water station in the Al-Hadb area of Kushar District, Hajjah, killing one person and injuring six. The airstrikes destroyed the station, leaving thousands without access to clean water and putting lives at risk, particularly children and the elderly.

2019: Mortar Shells Target Home, Injuring Two Women in Hodeidah

On September 19, 2019, mercenaries of the US-Saudi aggression shelled a home in the Al-Jabaliah area of Al-Tuhaita District, Hodeidah, injuring two women. This act highlights the continued violations of international humanitarian law and the fragility of ceasefire agreements in Yemen.

These tragic events exemplify the relentless suffering of Yemeni civilians and the violation of international law through attacks on vital infrastructure, homes, and heritage sites. The world is called to take immediate action to stop this aggression and address the humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen.
