2015: 65 Killed and Injured in a Massacre at a Popular Market and School in Hajja
On September 21, 2015, US-Saudi coalition airstrikes hit the Shaghader market and Hamata school in Hajja province. In Shaghader district, the airstrikes resulted in a brutal massacre, killing 40 civilians and wounding 25 others, while causing widespread destruction to properties, businesses, vehicles, and a fuel station.
Before the strikes, the market was bustling with activity as citizens shopped for their daily needs. In an instant, it was transformed into a scene of death, blood, and destruction. The market, once full of life, became a scene of devastation, with bodies being pulled from the rubble and grieving families lamenting their lost loved ones.
Targeting Hamata School:
On the same day, coalition airstrikes targeted Hamata School in the Mastaba district of Hajja province, causing significant destruction and terrifying students, teachers, and nearby residents. Many of these children had come to school seeking an education, but instead, their school became a target of war.
2015: 25 Civilians Killed in Airstrikes on Sana'a
On the same day, coalition airstrikes targeted civilian areas in the capital, Sana'a. In the Hasbah district, airstrikes killed 25 civilians, including children and women, and left dozens more injured, while causing massive destruction to homes and businesses.
2015: Airstrikes on Popular Market in Sa'adah Province
In Sa'adah province, coalition airstrikes hit the Friday Market in Hidan and civilian homes in the Dhahyan area. At least 10 civilians were killed, and 10 others were wounded, while homes and businesses were destroyed, leaving many families displaced.
Massacre at Jumaa bin Fadel Market:
While vendors and shoppers went about their day, coalition airstrikes hit the market, killing at least 10 and injuring 10 others. The once-bustling market turned into a horrific scene of scattered bodies, blood, and flames.
Civilian Homes Targeted in Dhahyan:
On the same day, airstrikes destroyed homes in Dhahyan, displacing families and forcing them to flee. These attacks violate international humanitarian law and call for accountability in international courts.
2015: Mocha Port Destruction:
Coalition airstrikes destroyed civilian infrastructure at Mocha Port, cutting off essential supplies. A port worker condemned the deliberate targeting, calling it part of a systematic effort to cripple Yemen's infrastructure.
2016: Funeral Bombing in Hodeidah:
Airstrikes targeted a mourning gathering in Hodeidah, killing 32 and injuring 41. Survivors described the devastation as bodies lay scattered and rescuers struggled to recover the dead from the rubble.
2017: Civilian Car Hit in Sa'adah:
A coalition airstrike destroyed a civilian vehicle in Baqim, Sa'adah, terrifying residents and halting local transport.
2018: Three Women Killed in Sa'adah:
Airstrikes on farms in Maran, Sa'adah, killed three women and injured another. The victims' bodies were torn apart, leaving families devastated.
