"The Israeli aggression is a blatant violation of the sovereignty of an independent Arab state and constitutes another crime in the series of atrocities committed against the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples," the Parliament stated.
It further criticized the lack of response from Arab and Islamic countries, saying that without such silence, "the Zionist regime's arrogance and criminal escalation would not have reached this point."
The Parliament called on the people of the Arab and Islamic nations, as well as freedom-loving people around the world, to take a firm and urgent stand against the Israeli aggression. "We urge the global community to act immediately to stop the ongoing Zionist crimes," the statement continued.
In addition, the Parliament appealed to Arab, regional, and international legislative bodies to publicly denounce Israel's actions and to hold its leaders accountable for their crimes. "We call on Arab, regional, and international parliaments, along with the free people of the world, to condemn Zionist crimes and work toward bringing the leaders of the enemy entity to justice for their violations."
The statement comes amid escalating tensions in Lebanon, where Israeli airstrikes have intensified in recent days, further inflaming conflicts in the region. The Yemeni Parliament's strong words reflect the growing calls for a united regional and international response to the Israeli actions in Lebanon and Palestine.
At least 558 people, including 50 children, have been killed and 1,835 others wounded in fierce Israeli bombardment on Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
Fifty-four hospitals are now treating the patients. Four paramedics have also been killed and 16 others have been wounded in Israeli attacks.
The UN human rights office has called for the protection of civilians following Israel’s air attacks on Lebanon on Monday, describing the assaults as “the deadliest day of violence in years.”
“International humanitarian law is very clear. All parties to an armed conflict must at all times distinguish between the civilian population and combatants and between civilian objects and military objectives,” spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani said in a statement.
“Constant care must be taken to spare the civilian population and civilian objects. The laws of war also oblige all parties to observe the principle of proportionality,” the statement added.
The UN human rights office also called for independent, thorough and transparent investigations into incidents in which civilians were killed or seriously wounded.
Nasser Yassin, the Lebanese minister coordinating the crisis response, told Reuters news agency that 89 temporary shelters have been set up in schools and other facilities as civilians fled "Israeli atrocities."
