October 8 Over 9 Years: 1,137 Casualties in US-Saudi Airstrikes on Yemen

Yemen: On October 8th, over the years 2015, 2016, and 2017, the US-Saudi coalition intensified its brutal attacks against the Yemeni people, targeting mourning halls, homes, markets, farms, roads, and trucks. These airstrikes, using internationally banned cluster bombs, hit areas in Sana’a, Sa'adah, and Hodeidah.

The attacks resulted in 219 martyrs and 918 wounded, including women and children. The bombings destroyed dozens of homes, deepening the sorrow and pain of the Yemeni people, displacing families, and worsening their suffering. The strikes also devastated infrastructure and vital life services, demanding urgent international action to hold war criminals accountable.

Key Details of the War Crimes on October 8th:

2015: 24 Dead and Wounded in Sa'adah 

Airstrikes targeted civilian homes in various regions of Sa'adah, killing and injuring several women, children, and men. Properties were destroyed, and fear and displacement plagued the residents.

2016: 13 Dead and Injured in Sa'adah 

Airstrikes hit the Thursday market in Sa'adah, killing and injuring civilians and targeting fuel trucks, exacerbating the siege by destroying essential resources.

2016: Massacre at the Great Hall in Sana’a 

One of the most memorable and tragic events, an airstrike targeted a funeral hall, killing and injuring over 1,000 civilians, including government officials. The double-tap strike magnified the devastation, leaving the scene filled with bodies and injured civilians.


2016: 8 Airstrikes Target Yemeni Economic Corporation Buildings in Sana’a

The Saudi-led coalition airstrikes targeted the Yemeni Economic Corporation buildings in Hamdan and Bani Matar with eight strikes, destroying buildings, a mosque, and damaging nearby farms and properties. The attack caused widespread fear among civilians, particularly women and children, and is considered a war crime under international law due to its targeting of civilian infrastructure.

2016: 12 Killed and Injured in Hodeidah

The same day, coalition airstrikes hit the home of Husni Ali Jaber in Bajil District, Hodeidah, killing nine family members and injuring three. The attack left behind scenes of devastation, with bodies scattered and widespread destruction, causing panic and forcing nearby residents to flee their homes.

2017: 4 Injured and Livestock Killed in Strikes on Sa'adah

US-Saudi airstrikes destroyed the Namlah Bridge in Sa'adah, injuring four citizens and killing dozens of livestock. The strikes worsened conditions for locals by disrupting transportation and supply routes, further aggravating their suffering.

2017: Woman Injured and Property Destroyed in Sana’a

The same day, coalition airstrikes targeted Al-Halila village in Bani Matar, injuring a woman and causing widespread destruction of private property. The attacks instilled fear among residents, yet also fueled determination to resist further aggression.

These incidents reflect the ongoing war crimes and civilian massacres in Yemen, calling for immediate international action to hold the perpetrators accountable.
