Hamas: Torture of Prisoners by Israeli Enemy Won't Erase the Defeat of Oct. 7

News - Middle East: The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has condemned the "shocking" scenes documenting the assault and torture of Palestinian prisoners in Ofer Military Prison, stating that these acts "reveal the true criminal face of this Nazi-like occupier."

In a statement on Wednesday, Hamas said the torture of prisoners, conducted under the direct supervision and orders of the terrorist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, provides visual evidence of the tragic conditions in which Palestinian prisoners live inside Israeli prisons.

The statement pointed out that Palestinian prisoners are subjected to repression, torture, deprivation, and medical neglect, which often leads to their deaths.

Hamas emphasized that these violations constitute war crimes and blatant breaches of all conventions and laws regarding prisoners of war, highlighting the occupier's complete disregard for any morals or human values.

Hamas further asserted that airing such scenes, coinciding with the first anniversary of the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood, is a failed attempt to erase the occupation's humiliation and defeat, which were inflicted by the steadfast Palestinian resistance.

The statement continued: "The increasing torture of prisoners, depriving them of their rights, and the continuation of the occupation’s aggressive policies against them will not break their resolve or strong will."

Hamas reiterated that "the darkness of prison will soon be followed by the dawn of freedom," and pledged that the Palestinian people and resistance will remain committed to supporting the courageous prisoners, no matter the cost.

The movement called on the free world and human rights and international organizations to expose the crimes committed by the occupation against the prisoners. It also urged legal action to be taken against the "criminal murderers" leading the occupation, for the "horrific violations" taking place in full view of the world.

Hamas also called on the families of the prisoners and all Palestinians in the West Bank to escalate their efforts in supporting the heroic prisoners and to do everything possible across various fields to defend and stand up for them.

Israeli military forces have kidnapped at least 5,000 Palestinians since the regime launched its genocidal war on the people of Gaza on October 2023, according to the Gaza media office.

The fate of many of them or the conditions of their detention are still unknown, said the media office.

Human rights groups have repeatedly raised the alarm about “unprecedented difficult conditions” in which all Palestinian detainees, including women, are being held. Around 80 female detainees are currently being held in the regime's prisons.
