Ansarullah Congratulates Hezbollah on Sheikh Qassem's Election, Affirms Continued Support for Resistance
News - Yemen: The Political Bureau of Ansarullah congratulated the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon on the election of Sheikh Naeem Qassem as Secretary-General of Hezbollah during this pivotal and exceptional moment in the party’s history and in its confrontation with the Zionist enemy.
The statement noted that the swift and seamless election of the Secretary-General and the rapid filling of various leadership positions with such a spirit of jihad once again proves that Hezbollah is an enduring idea that cannot be defeated.
It affirmed Ansarullah’s support for Hezbollah’s new leadership, congratulating the resistance on its escalating, effective operations aimed at harming the enemy and thwarting its malicious plans against Lebanon’s people and resistance.
On Tuesday, Hezbollah's Shura Council, the group's central decision-making body, appointed Sheikh Qassem as the group’s secretary-general.
The 60-year-old cleric is a veteran figure in Hezbollah, having served as deputy secretary general of the Lebanese resistance group since 1991.
He was appointed deputy secretary general under Hezbollah’s late secretary general, Abbas al-Musawi, who was killed by an Israeli helicopter attack in 1992, and remained in the role when Nasrallah became leader.
Sheikh Qassem has long been one of the leading spokesmen for Hezbollah, conducting many interviews with foreign media.
