News - Yemen: The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) confirmed on Sunday the effectiveness of the Yemeni Armed Forces after they compelled an Israeli-linked ship to change its course in the Red Sea.

According to the agency, a commercial vessel connected to Israel was ordered by the Yemeni Armed Forces to alter its route while located approximately 57 nautical miles off the Red Sea. The agency also reported receiving multiple distress signals from the ship.

The Yemeni Armed Forces previously announced the targeting of over 200 Israeli-linked vessels in support of the Palestinian people and in response to the genocide in Gaza.

The Yemeni forces emphasized their continued naval blockade on Israeli interests, warning that any ship violating the blockade or supporting Israeli aggression against Palestinians in Gaza or Lebanese people would be targeted.

In November 2023, Yemeni Armed Forces began targeting Israeli ships, or vessels linked to Israel, in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean, and as far as the Mediterranean, using missiles and drones. This action is in solidarity with Gaza and in response to the ongoing siege and genocide since October 7, 2023, as well as the aggression led by the United States and the United Kingdom against Yemen.
