News - Yemen: The Political Bureau of Ansarullah has strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrikes on Damascus, which targeted civilian facilities and residential areas associated with the Islamic Jihad Movement. The attacks have drawn widespread outrage for their impact on civilians and the loss of prominent figures in the resistance.  

In a statement released Friday, Ansarullah denounced the Zionist aggression as a flagrant violation of Syria's sovereignty and an extension of the"genocidal crimes" against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples.  

"We extend our condolences and congratulations to the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine on the martyrdom of a group of its leaders during this heinous attack," the statement read, acknowledging the sacrifices made by the movement's members in the struggle against Israeli occupation.  

Ansarullah further criticized the escalation of violence, calling it a reflection of the "bankruptcy and failure" of the Israeli regime in its field confrontations. The statement pointed to the growing effectiveness of resistance operations in Gaza and Lebanon as evidence of Israel’s struggles on multiple fronts.  

"The Zionist enemy’s resort to assassinating civilian leaders demonstrates its military and political impotence in the face of the significant role played by the Islamic Jihad Movement," the group declared.  

The statement concluded with a call to action, emphasizing that "the Zionist enemy, which continues to violate Syria's sovereignty and commit atrocities against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, can only be deterred through jihad."  

At least fifteen people have lost their lives after Israeli military aircraft carried out airstrikes against positions in the western flank of Damascus and the outskirts of the Syrian capital.

Syria’s official news agency SANA, citing a military source, reported that Israeli warplanes launched an assault from the direction of occupied Golan Heights at around 3:20 p.m. local time (1220 GMT) on Thursday, targeting several residential buildings in the Mazzeh neighborhood of Damascus and the Qudsaya area in the Damascus countryside.

The source added that the attack resulted in 15 people killed and 16 others injured.

He noted that there were women and children among the casualties and that the toll was preliminary and could rise.

The Israeli airstrikes against Syria come amid the Zionist regime’s bloody onslaughts against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, and the Lebanese nation.

Israel launched relentless air and ground attacks on Gaza, including hospitals, residences, and houses of worship, after Palestinian resistance movements carried out an unprecedented military operation dubbed Al-Aqsa Flood against the regime on October 7, 2023.

More than 43,736 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed while 103,370 individuals have sustained injuries.

According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health, at least 3,365 people, including 216 children, have been killed in Israeli attacks on the Arab country since October 2023.
