News - Yemen: Yemeni Journalists Union condemned the Israeli assassination of Hezbollah Media Relations Officer Mohammad Afif in a treacherous airstrike on Beirut. The union expressed full solidarity with journalists in Gaza and Lebanon.

In a statement, the union called the assassination of a political media figure a sign of Israeli weakness, aimed at silencing the voice of resistance.

The union emphasized that Israeli criminal policies will not suppress the free voice of resistance from fulfilling its moral and religious duty to defy the occupation and remove it from sacred lands.

The statement highlighted Afif as a true embodiment of resistance, broadcasting its message from Beirut's southern suburbs during the brutal aggression on Gaza and Lebanon.

The union urged regional and international bodies to unite against Israeli arrogance and occupation until it is expelled from all Palestinian territories.

An Israeli airstrike on the Baath Party's office in Beirut has killed Mohammad Afif, Hezbollah’s Media Relations Officer. Hezbollah confirmed his assassination, praising his efforts in countering Israeli propaganda and amplifying the voice of resistance, especially during Israeli bombardments targeting Beirut’s southern suburbs.

The attack is part of a broader Israeli offensive against Lebanon, which escalated in September alongside the Gaza conflict. Over the past year, at least 3,287 people have been killed, primarily in the last seven weeks, with women and children making up most casualties in Israeli strikes in Lebanon. Another 14,222 have been wounded.

In retaliation, Hezbollah has launched hundreds of strikes against Israeli forces and positions in occupied Palestinian territories. The movement has vowed to continue its resistance until Israel de-escalates its aggression.
