U.S. Escalates War Against Yemen by Imposing Sanctions on Prisoner Affairs Committee

News - Yemen: The United States has intensified its campaign against Yemen by announcing sanctions on the National Committee for Prisoner Affairs and its chairman, Abdul Qader Al-Murtadha.

Washington has presented various baseless justifications, alleging the committee's involvement in severe human rights violations and its role in fueling violence in Yemen. These claims align closely with accusations from factions tied to the Islah party, indicating a shared source for such allegations.

This escalation comes amid growing Yemeni operations supporting Gaza against Israeli aggression and amidst widespread silence from Arab and Islamic nations over the genocide being committed against Palestinian civilians in Gaza. The U.S. military also appears incapable of deterring Yemen's steadfast support for Gaza.

In a preliminary response, Abdul Qader Al-Murtadha rejected the accusations made by the U.S. Treasury Department, describing them as baseless and unfounded.

Al-Murtadha stated on the social media platform "X" on Tuesday that all prisoners and detainees in Yemen receive full humanitarian care and are regularly visited by the International Red Cross. He stressed that the U.S. accusations are politically motivated and directly tied to Yemen's supportive stance on the Palestinian cause.

He added that the United States is not in a position to issue such accusations, given its extensive record of war crimes and crimes against humanity in countries such as Palestine, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Al-Murtadha reiterated that these allegations will not deter the committee from continuing its efforts to address the issue of prisoners and detainees through the United Nations and local mediators.

For over two years, Yemeni authorities in Sanaa have urged the Saudi-led coalition to separate humanitarian issues from political and military conflicts. They have repeatedly called for the release of all prisoners on a "all-for-all" basis, but these appeals have consistently been met with resistance from the US-Saudi coalition of aggression, its local proxies, or their representatives.

The U.S. continues to obstruct efforts to reach a resolution in Yemen, particularly in light of Yemen's support for Gaza and the Palestinian people. This has seemingly angered Washington, leading to further interference and the prevention of agreements on a comprehensive roadmap for peace.
