Dec. 19 Over 9 Years: 23 Casualties in Aggression Airstrikes on Yemen

Yemen: On December 19, over the years 2015 and 2019, the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression continued to commit war crimes through direct, brutal airstrikes and artillery shelling by mercenaries. These attacks targeted religious sites, residential homes, fuel stations, commercial establishments, neighborhoods, and infrastructure in Yemen's Sa'adah, Taiz, and Hodeidah provinces.

The aggression resulted in two martyrs and 21 injured, including women and children, along with the destruction of homes, properties, and vital facilities. It caused fear among civilians, waves of displacement, intensified suffering, and fuel shortages amidst the ongoing blockade on Yemen.

Key Incidents:
2015: Airstrike on the Home in Sa'adah

In a shocking crime that shook humanity, US-Saudi airstrikes targeted the home of Sheikh Badr al-Din al-Houthi, a prominent religious leader and father of Yemen’s revolutionary figures, Hussein al-Houthi and Abdulmalik al-Houthi. The attack, which occurred in the Al-Saifi area of Sahar District in Sa'adah province, injured five residents, destroyed the home completely, and caused extensive damage to nearby homes and a mosque.

The scene was harrowing: explosions echoed through the area, homes collapsed, black smoke billowed into the sky, and terrified families fled amidst cries of anguish. The attack turned a once-safe community into rubble in seconds. Survivors spoke of the horror, describing their desperate escape from the debris and the unbearable destruction.

This deliberate attack on a religious symbol and civilian site represents a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, leaving deep psychological scars on survivors and displacing numerous families.

2015: Airstrikes on Mokha Junction Station in Taiz

On the same day, Saudi-led coalition airstrikes hit the Mokha Junction fuel station in Taiz, killing two civilians and injuring 15 others, many critically. The attack resulted in the station's complete destruction, severe damage to nearby shops and vehicles, and exacerbated the fuel crisis in the province under siege.

This deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure worsened the humanitarian crisis, disrupted daily life, and violated international laws prohibiting attacks on civilians and essential facilities.

2019: Shelling Injures Yemeni Child in Hodeidah

In 2019, Saudi-Emirati mercenaries launched a series of mortar attacks on residential areas in Al-Jarbah Al-Sufla village, Durayhimi District, Hodeidah province. These attacks injured a young boy, Bilal Al-Jama’i, and caused extensive property damage, displacing numerous families.

Over nine years of aggression, the US-Saudi-Emirati coalition has left a devastating impact on Yemeni civilians. These December 19 attacks highlight the ongoing war crimes, the destruction of civilian infrastructure, and the dire humanitarian crisis inflicted upon Yemen.

The international community must act swiftly to end the aggression, lift the blockade, and hold the perpetrators accountable. Yemen’s resilience and hope remain steadfast despite the ongoing suffering, and the call for justice and peace grows louder with each passing day.
