Dec. 21 Over 9 Years: 14 Casualties in US-Saudi Aggression War Crimes on Yemen

Yemen: On December 21 in the years 2015 and 2016, the US-Saudi aggression continued to commit war crimes and acts of genocide through brutal airstrikes and the use of cluster bombs targeting civilians in their homes, farms, tents, and pastures in the provinces of Sa'adah and Taiz.

These attacks resulted in eight martyrs and six injured, mostly children and women. The aggression destroyed homes, farms, tents, vehicles, and private properties, terrorizing residents, extinguishing childhood dreams, forcing displacement, and exacerbating suffering.

Below are key details of the crimes committed on this date:

2015: 2 Martyrs and 3 Injured in Taiz

On this day, the US-Saudi aggression added another war crime to its ongoing atrocities against the Yemeni people. Civilians' homes and properties in Wahjah, Dhubab District, Taiz Province, were targeted, leading to two martyrs, three injured, and widespread destruction. The attack caused panic, forced displacement, and amplified the misery of residents.

At midnight, as residents of Wahjah were in deep sleep, the aggression’s aircraft scoured the area for civilian targets, claiming legitimacy for its crimes. The airstrikes turned the peaceful night into an unimaginable nightmare, leaving behind charred bodies, destroyed homes, burnt tents, and scorched vehicles.

2016: 6 Martyrs, 3 Injured, and Destruction in Sa'adah

On the same day in 2016, the US-Saudi aggression committed three separate war crimes in Sa'adah Province. These attacks, involving direct airstrikes and internationally banned cluster bombs, targeted civilians' homes and farms. The atrocities resulted in six martyrs, including women and children, three injured, and the destruction of properties, displacing dozens of families and deepening their suffering.

Baqim District: A Family Devastated

In Al-Asilan, Baqim District, an airstrike hit the home and farm of Yahya Al-Ghayli. The attack killed four civilians and injured three, mostly women and children, turning their lives into a nightmare.

Razih District: Cluster Bombs Kill Children

In Razih, cluster bombs left behind by the aggression killed two young girls who were playing near their home in Al-Azhur. The children mistook the deadly munitions for toys, marking their last moments of innocence in a heart-wrenching tragedy.

Saqayn District: Home Destroyed

In Al-Sha’af, Saqayn District, the home of Saleh Jirfan was completely destroyed by airstrikes. Though the family had not yet moved into their newly built house, they lost all they had worked for.

The crimes committed by the US-Saudi aggression on December 21 represent a small fraction of the atrocities documented through video, images, and survivor testimonies. However, many crimes remain undocumented, requiring dedicated efforts to present these violations to the world and hold war criminals accountable.

The international community must take urgent action to stop the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe, prosecute war criminals, and provide justice to the victims of these heinous acts in Yemen.
