Feb. 1 Over 9 Years: 36 Casualties in US-Saudi War Crimes on Yemen

Yemen: On February 1, between 2016 and 2019, the US-Saudi aggression continued committing war crimes and acts of genocide through direct airstrikes on homes, farms, civilian properties, markets, residential neighborhoods, roads, and fishing boats in various regions of the provinces of Sa'adah, Sana'a, Taiz, Hajjah, and Hodeidah.

These attacks resulted in 17 martyrs and 19 injured, most of whom were children, women, and travelers. The strikes also displaced dozens of families, terrorized civilians, and deepened the humanitarian crisis. This report documents a series of coalition crimes that have impacted the daily lives of Yemenis, revealing the sheer brutality of these attacks.

Key Details:

2016: Two Martyrs, Several Injured in Airstrikes on Sa'adah

On February 1, 2016, the US-Saudi aggression added two more war crimes to its record against the Yemeni people. Airstrikes targeted Al-And Market in Sahar district and three homes in the Sherawa area of Baqim district, Sa'adah province, resulting in two martyrs and several injured. The strikes caused destruction to civilian properties, terrified residents, and demolished homes, businesses, and livelihoods, worsening humanitarian suffering.

2017: 8 Casualties in Airstrikes on Fishermen’s Boats in Taiz

On the same day in 2017, the war reached the sea, as coalition airstrikes targeted a fishing boat in Al-Zahari, on the Mocha coast of Taiz province. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of five fishermen and injuries to three others, depriving their families of their sole source of income.

Blood mixed with seawater as the boats were torn apart. Survivors screamed in terror, while those on the shore ran for their lives.

2017: 7 Casualties in a Massacre on Sana'a

Also on February 1, 2017, the US-Saudi coalition wiped out an entire family in Sana'a's Al-Sabeen district. Airstrikes on the home of Mohammed Al-Hakami in the village of San’ killed six family members, including women and children, and wounded another. The attack also caused significant damage to surrounding homes and properties, triggering mass displacement and fear among residents.

Hamdan: 15 Airstrikes Destroy a Civilian-Owned Quarry

In a separate attack, 15 coalition airstrikes targeted a civilian-owned stone quarry in Bait Na'am, Hamdan district, Sana'a province, causing massive destruction and economic losses.

2018: 2 Martyrs, Several Injured in Airstrikes on a Civilian Vehicle in Sa'adah

On this day in 2018, the aggression bombed a civilian vehicle traveling on the main road between Razeh and Ghamr districts in Sa'adah. The attack killed two civilians and injured several others, leaving behind a horrific scene of burnt bodies, torn limbs, and a vehicle reduced to a fiery wreck.

2019: 9 Civilians Injured in an Attack on a Civilian Vehicle in Hajjah

In Hajjah province, the aggression turned a civilian vehicle into a military target, striking the car of Ahmed Asiri in Al-Mukhafi, Mustaba district. The attack injured nine civilians, including women and children, and disrupted the movement of travelers, ambulances, and the transportation of food supplies.

These are just a few examples of the crimes committed against Yemenis. Behind every number is a name, a family, and a shattered dream. The repeated airstrikes are a reminder that the war in Yemen is not just a political conflict—it is a machine of destruction crushing lives, homes, and livelihoods.

As the bombings continue, the world must ask: How much longer will Yemeni blood be so cheaply spilled? Where is the global conscience that claims to defend human rights?

Yemen cries out today: Enough killing of innocents.
