U.S. Admits USAID’s Involvement in Criminal Activities and Covert Operations

News - World: After years of revelations about its direct support for extremist groups in Yemen under the guise of humanitarian aid, the United States has officially admitted that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) was nothing more than a "criminal organization".

The admission, made public this week, has reignited discussions about the covert and illicit operations conducted by Western and American agencies under humanitarian labels.

Elon Musk Exposes USAID’s Role
The shocking acknowledgement came from U.S. businessman and government efficiency minister, Elon Musk, who, in a series of posts on his X platform, exposed USAID’s true activities. Musk revealed that the agency "used American taxpayers’ money to fund biological weapons research, including COVID-19, which killed millions worldwide."

He further described USAID as a "criminal organization that should be dismantled," alleging that it "pays media organizations to promote its propaganda."

Musk also shared reports from Mike Benz, executive director of the Foundation for Internet Freedom, which detailed USAID’s role in global media censorship. According to Benz, the agency instructs media outlets worldwide to enforce "strategic silence" policies to control narratives on social media.

Additionally, USAID allegedly operates a global internet surveillance program that brings together hundreds of NGOs to pressure foreign governments into passing laws enabling online speech control.

USAID’s Links to Intelligence Operations
Benz further exposed that USAID establishes political control structures over societies, functioning similarly to the CIA. He also claimed that the agency funded heroin production in Afghanistan, while its partner, the U.S. Institute of Peace, worked to ensure that the Taliban maintained 95% of the world’s heroin supply—all while receiving $56 million annually from U.S. taxpayers.

USAID’s Involvement in Extremist Support in Yemen
This scandal reinforces longstanding allegations from Yemen, which was among the first to provide concrete evidence of USAID’s direct involvement in supporting terrorist groups. In 2020, Yemen’s armed forces media unit documented the discovery of weapon caches belonging to extremist groups in Al-Bayda province, bearing the USAID logo.

At the time, Yemeni Armed Forces spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree confirmed that USAID was conducting intelligence operations under the guise of humanitarian aid. A year later, in 2021, similar USAID-labeled weapons stockpiles were found in Marib.

Economic Warfare on Yemen

Beyond its support for extremist groups, USAID played a direct and extensive role in the economic war on Yemen. The agency forged secret agreements with Yemen’s exiled government in Aden, effectively taking control of the Central Bank’s operations to use financial pressure as a weapon against the Yemeni people and the Sana’a-based National Salvation Government.

One of the clearest examples of USAID’s involvement in Yemen’s economic warfare was its support for last year’s decision by the Saudi-backed government to target banks operating in Yemeni-controlled areas.

This move was intended to blackmail Sana’a into stopping its military support for Gaza. The agency also designed a foreign remittance monitoring system to restrict financial flows into Yemeni territories, capitalizing on Biden’s designation of the Ansarullah  as a "terrorist organization."

Media Manipulation and Intelligence Operations
USAID was also deeply involved in media warfare against Yemen, funding projects aimed at shaping public opinion, promoting pro-Western narratives, and demonizing the Yemeni resistance. It worked through media platforms, research centers, and human rights organizations while simultaneously conducting intelligence activities under the same cover.

Elon Musk’s revelations confirm that such media manipulation was not limited to Yemen but was a global agenda driven by USAID.

Longstanding Western Covert Operations
The recent dismantling of an American-Israeli spy ring in Yemen further highlighted USAID’s involvement in hostile operations targeting Yemen’s agricultural and educational sectors. These revelations align with USAID’s historical role as the U.S. government’s "soft power" arm, responsible for directing billions of dollars in so-called “grants” to influence foreign governments and societies.

A Broader Global Agenda
This latest scandal raises fresh concerns about the activities of other Western and American organizations operating under the humanitarian banner. It also reinforces what Yemen had already exposed years ago—that these entities are often engaged in covert military, intelligence, and political operations, rather than genuine humanitarian work.
